If no-one has warned you about this, Iowa State Patrol is almost completely focused on one issue right now: getting people to move to the left lane when passing emergency vehicles on the shoulder. They will ignore people going 90 to pull over any vehicle that doesn't move to the left. Arguing that the law only requires that you move over OR SLOW DOWN doesn't seem to carry any weight with them. Move over.

Absolutely true, but, for some reason, the Iowa State Patrol is almost completely focused on this issue this summer. On a trip last week, I watched them ignore people going 20 over to take only the cars that didn't move over. I Googled and it doesn't seem to be because a worker or trooper was recently hit. I don't know why this is their focus, but it is.

That's a long rig. Hope that bus has a decent diesel setup. We used to have a Prevost coach w/ 40' stacker. I think we got 5-7 MPG when towing.

It's an 8.3L Cummins and an Allison automatic. We've been averaging about 7.5 mpg. Somewhere between 550-600mi per tank and 70-71 gallons goes back in. Not bad really...

Damn that is like $1k just in gas on an average of $3.50 a gallon one way DAMN. Cheaper than flying and transport cost though. Also you have all the tools and parts just in case something happens and a place to house yourself over the weeken. Good luck guys ans safe traveling.

Suffered our first casualty of the trip thanks to the Illinois road crews thinking that putting orange warning barrels 3 feet into the opposite lane. We had two options: grass or hit the barrel. Thankfully it's just the housing and we put a new bulb in it for now.
