hey i have a 98 eclipse gs and ive been looking and thinkin about this one for a while has anyone thought of swapping out the 420a outta a 95-99 eclipse and installing a mivech v6

ARe you a master fabriacator? If yes, than go ahead, if not than it is gonna cost you a hellalot of cash to fund a project like this, and you are still fwd.

A MiVEC V6?

I'll humor you and keep this thread open... but, do you even know what kind of work that would involve? We have enough trouble trying to explain how it isn't worth the money to convert to a 4G63, let alone a V6. Not all chassis were built equally, ya know... there would be quite a bit of fabrication in terms of mounting the engine, converting a suitable drivetrain, then of course, sourcing the proper accessories, and somehow retrofitting the electronics to run it all. I'm not sure what car you would want to get this V6 from (4G Eclipse?), but I'm sure you could buy that car with the money you would spend on this swap.

man, is it just me or does everyone else on the board cringe whenever the words "engine" and "swap" are mentioned in the 420a fourms?

Obviously if you search, your going to come the conclusion of swapping just isn't feesable, but if by some chance you find it challenging and do it anywyas, please do a write up on it explaining the time and effort and things you had to do to make it work. Your probably not going to find much help here other than weary onlookers of the thread tittle.

Not that I'm encouraging you or anything, but you'd have a better shot swapping in an EVO 9 Mivec 4g63.
Anyways I'm done here, paul thanks for keeping it open, you know this thread can only last so long right.....

I found a couple places, Canada and California advertising 4g63 engines as "fitting" 95-99 Talon. I guess this is incorrect. Was the 420A the only engine offered in 2G Talon?

Three engines were offered in 2g DSM's.
The 4g63 - Mitsubishi 2.0 Turbo 4
The 420a - Chrysler 2.0 NA 4
The 4g64 - Mitsubishi 2.4L NA 4

The original poster was asking about a mivec v6 swap. Please don't hijack. Start your own thread.
