im asking for everyones oppinion, a local shop has a 91 eclipse gst on its lot with a wrecked rear end. the shop told me today they would be willing to swap out the engine in the gst to my rs and do all modifications necesary including swapping in a new 255 fuel pump for around 1900. does this sound like a good price to everyone? the engine that they want to put in has 120,000 miles on it sounded good but wasnt able to be driven. also its a six bolt that hadnt been modded at all. just thought i would see what you all thought before i got excited.
thanks :dsm:

does this shop know whats involved in this swap?

I say go for it, but make sure that you get it written out on a contract that they'll do it for $1900...God knows that once they get started and find out how much of a PITA it is to swap the engine, their price will magically increase from $1900

to answer the first question yea they know what all there has to be done to the engine bay in order to complete the swap they say they have done it two other times for other customers. but while im at it does anyone have any suggestions of what all i should check on this engine before i say go for it cause i really dont know squat about the 4g63... thanks.

if they have done it before for only 1,900 bucks then I would go for it :thumb: but it sounds kind of funny to me since there is alot of work to be done to swap a 4G63T into a RS because I have done alot of research on it and the wiring looks to be a total pain, along with relocation of motor mounts, etc..but if you want to know if the engine is good or not make sure you get a compression check to make sure your all in the green
