Wow WTF . What I want to know is what drives people to do this to their car? Then again, if I owned a toyota prius I would do the same thing. :D

Man I need some help from ppl who have some good tips with cleaning up my engine bay. Those with experience who were like "oh, this can be hidden if I put it here", chime in please.

Now with the pic, don't laugh. I did, but I'm allowed to. Overflow for the win.

1. Loop the throttle cable underneath the intake manifold.
2. Relocate the battery to the trunk.
3. Hide the random red wire near firewall on pass. side.
4. Get a heat shield.
5. Break out the Simple Green and start scrubbing.
6. Hide the vacuum hose from im to bov by putting it under uicp and tucked in near fuel rail.
7. Do some rewiring near im/fuel rail to tuck it all out of sight.
8. Ditch emissions and remove all brackets from firewall.
9. Organize spark plug wires.
10. Remove a/c and all lines.
11. Remove fps and bracket.

^ everything he said... and take off that greyish insulation stuff on the firewall. It will need to be cut up slightly to get it off w/ everything in the way. But I think it makes it look much nicer w/out, plus that doesn't really do anything...

HAHAHA!!! and take the coke can out of there!!!!

Note on the relocation... NHRA guidlines state that you need a sealed box if you have a battery in your trunk, since it's a hatch-back. I just bought one from summit for $116.

2. Just need some thick wire and a breaker fuse right?
3. That's the + for my fuel pump...:coy: Is there a hole I can run it through the firewall besides the steering boot?
6. Got a pic?
8. I did the EGR block off, was told to leave the sensors there. Cool to take em off?
9. Like the dude did in the link you gave me? Dont wanna rub the wires against the vc.
11. Whats fps?

2. Depends if you want to be NHRA legal or not. If you do, research up on the rules.
3. Sure is. Poke a hole in the boot for the main engine harness. It passes through the firewall directly below the battery.
6. I'll look.
8. If you take the solenoids off, you will throw a cel. If this isn't an option for you, remove the solenoids from the brackets on the firewall and just tape them to the wire loom. That way you can an least remove the brackets.
9. Nah, I don't like how he has his wires run really. Get yourself some spark plug wire holders from Autozone. I'll get you a pic.
11. fps = fuel pressure solenoid. It's located to the right of your brake master cylinder. It's not really necessary. It might throw a cel so just bypass it and put the vacuum hose from the im directly to the fpr. Then take the fps off the bracket, tape it to the loom, and remove the bracket from the firewall.

Sorry, no pic of how I would route the bov hose. I would just try to tuck it down into the gap between fuel rail and im a little so it doesn't stick out so much.

Here are the spark plug wire holders I was talking about. Looks much cleaner and tidier imo.

Just do it as you work on your car. Everytime I work on my car I clean all the parts very well before I reinstall them. It's just in the details. My cross-member is so clean I can eat off it, and it cost me nothing to clean up. And the best part about staying clean is when you go back digging in your engine bay you don't get as dirty!

Ya, I see that guy removed all his brackets from the firewall. Thanks for the pics. I'll take those tips seriously and apply em tomorrow. Will the simple green need to be rinsed off with water when I'm done, or just spray with more green?

Any more things I should do lmk. I'll post pics when it's done and y'all can pat yourselves on the shoulders too for contributing.

Let me know if you need any more pics of that car - it's my brothers car and we got plenty of pics.

I forget what the directions say, but you should dilute the simple green (maybe 10:1 with water). I would rinse everything off with water once you're done scrubbing.

Read through the link I gave you earlier. That might give you some other ideas. This post I listed nearly everything I could think of to clean up the engine bay.

You could spend a weekend or more on just cleaning the engine bay. Work on one section at a time and take your time. I noticed parts that are powder coated clean up easier then parts that aren’t. Also if you can or want to eliminate your emissions it gets rid of a lot of junk. If you want to keep you AC they have some polish cleaners that can bring the shine back to the lines…or just remove the ac all together, looks better without it. There are also some cleaners out there that will bring back the shine of the rubber hoses, you could ask a local detail shop about it to get some professional cleaners. You can also take the bolts to a wire wheel to knock the years or oil, dirt and other crap off of them. Along with all the other stuff that was mentioned before that should help clean up your bay a little.

When I did the AWD & 6 bolt swap on the spyder we cleaned up a lot of stuff and moved some things around. There are still a few thing I need to clean up and arrange but this is how mine looks.

Good luck with your cleaning, keep us posted.
