Well yes you are right...LOL...Turbo spools very quickly from stock 7:8:1 Compression, to 9:1..LOL...But hitting 12.1 at 20psi isn't too bad OMG. I wish i could have had more runs up there that day to tune it up to about 24psi. The kid i was running in that video was running a MHI Big 16g at 24psi and hit 12.1 as well. So i am guessing with it turned up just a few more, possible to hit high 11s :thumb:

It was actually about 22lbs and he hit an 11.84 later that day. Anything above that would spike and fall.

Excellent times for that EvoIII 'GT'! The only run I saw you do that day was like a low-mid 13 second run I believe, shooting black smoke all the way down the track. Clearly you did something different later on!

The thing is, for your ONE evoIII GT running 12's and going strong, there seem to be 10 'GT's blowing up with 12psi and under 5k miles.

LOL...yeah that run was really bad, Bogged really hard off the line, and missed 3rd down the track. Hand was sweaty and slipped...LOL...But its running great though.

I've said this a couple times already, but it somehow seems to get edited out followed by other posts saying to post facts only; opinions aren't welcome.

Regardless, kudos to the O.P. for his quest to the 11's. If you do end up having problems with this turbo, PM me and I'll try to help get them straightened out without having to junk the whole turbo.

He asked a few times about the ebay EVO III GT, I tried to deter him and go with the FP TD06 18g-6SL2 turbo instead, but none the less he got the VERY much cheaper 16g from ebay.

I am excited to see how much this turbo with compare to my old 16g and my other buddies 14b. He got it two weeks ago, but I have been busy. We should be installing this turbo Sunday, I will check back with ya'll after we get it in. I'll also be checking back with ya'll if/when this turbo fails.

Well if you have the luck that i have had so far with this turbo, your friend will be very happy.

Save yourself the headache and open up the wastegate hole before you ever install it on the car.

Agreed, you will have to open up that hole, and port this turbo.
 
Im a lil confused did you hit 11s yet ? If so what is your 8th mile time as well thanks. Thats all there is around here to run in . I have a felling its 7.70s

No i have not made it into the 11s yet. I ran a 12.1 at 20psi on only 2 passes. And the first pass was horrible. Had i had more time to tune my SAFC and boost up to 24psi, possible high 11s. I will get you my 8th mile when i get home, and as for the dyno, i am still trying to get those numbers for all of you, as well as hitting the track at least one more time before the season ends.
 
You should switch to ds-map and get rid of that SAFC junk, you can get a way better tune.
 
Man get rid of that ritch dive from 35 to 45 and a bit more tweeking there will be some big power.:thumb:
 
Hey man , good numbers! :thumb: Was this on race gas or 93? If it was 93, You might wanna think about richening it up a little except from 3500-4500 and lean that section out like tqmx1 said. It's not dangerously lean everywhere else, but I would aim more for 11.0:1 just to be safe.
 
I used to have the same intercooler and turbo. Nice numbers.

One more thing the wastegate flapper on my got floppy on the pivot arm so I welded it to the arm. Also I welded the sleeve that the pivot arm threads through to the housing. The Whole flapper would slide out of the way of the WG hole and I wouldnt build boost so I had to take off the wg actuator arm move the pivot arm back in and then put the arm back on with the clip. I was lame. Only to have the thing slide out again. But when I took off the turbo and sold it I welded it and it is still running strong on my friends car. Boosting a little over 10k on it. It does have shaft play though....
 
Thas amazing on an ebay turbo. What psi was the dyno at? How the hell did you get 12.1 at 20psi. Im amazed, seriously.

I have the same fmic kit as you rydazz. Did it make a big difference cutting the front bumper like that? I've been thinking about it, but I won't hack it unless it's justified. I'm running 20 psi on the 14b but will be running at least an evo3 or bigger soon.

Not hating; it just seems that alot of people think you're doing this on the turbo alone because you never posted anything about engine mods. I had to search your profile to get the scoop.
