I personally am looking to do some weight reduction while retaining the quiet/smooth ride, and still having a spare so I can go on the highway without getting flatbedded home.

heres some of my ideas, just normal of course.

CF hood
Ditch all of my stereo and just get upgraded 6x9, 5.25, and 3.5's hooked to the factory amp/deck.
CF Hatch<<<Anyone make one for us?
CF Spoiler<<Anyone make it?
Dimple Drilled/Slotted Rotors

What else is there? I dont wanna tear out all the sound deadening or the spare tire.

i would of thought it was just a matter of removing bolts, i imagine we had to take appart some other things to get to the entire setup.. im grr8 at taking shiet apart but i can never remember how to put it back together.. if i take it out and some day i want to put it back in im #### out of luck..

what about power steering? those extra reservoirs under the hood that make the bay look cluttered as hell..

does anyone have any ideas on how much stock rs wheels weigh? i had roush wheels last time i went to the track and i didnt think about how much heavier then my stockers they are.. thy must weigh like 30+..

I believe the factory alloys weigh 19 lbs without tires which really is not that bad. Most of the cheaper cast aftermarket wheels the same size weigh similar or more. Going to a forged wheel like a volk TE-37 reduces lots of weight (they are 11.2 for a 16x7.5) but forged wheels are very pricey.

I would pull the power steering last after everything else. Only if you are really looking for every pound. I am not sure on 2G's if you can even go to a manual rack, but that is the best way to do it. The 1G manual rack is lighter than the power rack. I know a lot of people just take off the pump and lines, and keep the power rack, It just isn't the way I would go.

Hope that helps.

Awesome! I just took out my fog lights and saved 10 lbs. I'm now a fraction of a percent closer to my 2000 lb weight goal. :thumb:

What are you talking about? Did you click on the link Defiant so kindly provided? Have you weighed your fog lights?

i was thinkin of cuttin out the interior of the door behind the plastic door panel. do you think this would be a good idea i also was wondering what other things i could remove or were theres metal that i could remove. im workin on buildin up a non turbo motor project has already started and nearly complete.

engine build= head has been shaved port and polished, crank was knifed contecting rods were lightend and balanced got xt forged pistons 12:1 ratio hks cams

bolt ons = skunk 2 intake manifold, aem fuel and fuel pressure reg. venom injectors, high vol fuel pump, 70mm tb, cikara header "headmen", unorthodox under drive pulleys, aem cam gears, aem ignition, aem wide band uego controller.

undecided= little shit like plugs and wires intake and cat back. nos

intake dont know wether front mount or taditional intake would be better a lil help there would be appreciated.

nos thinkin 75 to be safe and a lil extra security but if bigger what do you suggest and any extra help with the weight ? would be great

Ok hear goes If you are building a race car then what I would suggest you do is get rid of the doors completly and build a latch on door ,,,it's easier than you think .
You could make the outside of a fiberglass resin your self and not only save tons of weight but look cool doin it , (idea originally came from some pro honda racers ) .
But keep in mind that it takes money to play the game..

Ok if you were to be keeping this a streetable car I would not suggest gutting the inside metal of you door because thats the back bone of the door ,,think about what would happen if you were to get hit on the door panel ,,you would be crushed with out a doubt.

What im pondering and cuncocting myself is replacing the interioir panels with sheetmetal . It has been done with great success and I've also found how to deaden the niose from the outside with out sacrifing lightness.

The only problem is re wireng the locking mechanisms and the control buttons for the power locks and windows.

If you would be interested in how to further loose weight let me know I have a book full of Ideas on this topic.

glass, rear seats - even passenger seat. AC motor and all a/c shit, windsheild wiper motor and all that shit, carpet, all that foam sound deading shit. um strip everything in your hatch down to the metal.

He does have a point but I would also throw in a coffe mug ,the coffe pot ,what the hell lets throw in the whole star bucks in their while we'er at it, LOL .

Well like I said be fore it really
"depends" on what you want to accomplish with your car ,whether it be a race car or a dailly driver , but shure,, get rid of everything like abs , windsheild washer tank ,, those pennies stuck to the bottom of your cup holder, get rid of everything.

But where is your date gonna sit? on the floor ??and im shure shell love that heavey loud exhaust note from your car ,, but im also shure you really dident mean all that was intended to trandspier for just one weekend of racing .

Well the best part about using helium in you tires ,I guess would be that after replacing it (if you want too that is) you could make funny voices while chasing thos import models half way down the track hahaha well take it easy guys and have fun tunning.

she wont be sitten on the floor thats what the lincoln's for LS tight ride
20's tints and nutty ass system.

but yeah it aint a daily driver

carbon fiber hood= 10 sec off 1/4 mile time?? shure sounds great ,, and while your at it wear a ballon on your head it might just raise the I.q level of your state abit .  :thumb:

When talking about race cars a thousand and one things could be done to make it faster than it already is , Me I just see what some pros like marco at magnus motorsports , and pepe loco have done for them and just reiderate them ( kind of like sharing the knowledge) to other enthusiastic aspiering racers.

But wow what hood was that and where did you get it??

Im pretty shure we would all want that peice of marvel.

Oh and what about that neon light you like to wrap around your knob ?does it make you shift faster at night or just blind you onlooking fans with the peekaboo action :D  OMG

Im sorry...... I apologiez right now.

I just couldent help myself.

but yeah bro, if it is going to be a full out race car, stripp it to the bone and I mean everything. The bonus to that is you could sell off those parts on ebay and help fund your car , and even take it a step further and build subclosures and frame add ons ,, and so on and so forth. Ill email you some pics from pepe locos new mx6 pro car just to give you and idea ... oh and you would probably be better off going to www.magnusmotorsports.com and checking out their new action front project talon.
