2G Driver side blinker speed and sync issue

I noticed that my left turn signal blinks really fast, so I changed out the tail light bulbs with new ones, and that did not solve the problem. It seems like the blinkers are working ok in the front and back, but they blink very fast as if a bulb is missing. When I turn the lights on, the rear bulbs do not blink in tandem, they appear to be operating in reverse of each other.

Any ideas?

Check the grounds on the housing. It’s been about 15+ years since I repaired mine so can’t remember exactly.

Are any of the bulbs in the circuit LED bulbs? If so, it may not be producing enough of a load and you may need an LED Flasher relay or load resistor.

Get the proper led flasher relay. Don't get the load resistor. Those heatsinks on the resistors get very hot and I wouldn't feel comfortable with them in the car.

Also the flasher relays do wear out over time from fatigue as it's just a piece of metal heating up and bending repeatedly to open and close a contact. So just replace the relay first and you might be ok.

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. There are no LED bulbs, and I swapped out all of the old bulbs for new filament ones. I've also discovered that its not just the blinker. That problematic bulb, the outer driver side brake light (the middle of the 3 bulbs in the assembly), also doesn't get brighter when the brake pedal is pressed. This is true whether the headlights are on or not, yet the bulb lights up as normal with the headlights as long as the brake isn't pressed. I will have to dig into it further.

Sounds like the bulb isn't making contact inside on the brake circuit, maybe corrosion or the contact is worn out, or you have a loose pin in the harness. Gonna have make the brake light active and wiggle stuff around and see if it comes on. Also just to cover it, the bulb in that spot is a double filament and not a single correct? I Have replacement harness's if you need one. 5$ + Shipping.

I was able to get some time and fix it today. The ground inside the socket wasn't making good contact. All I had to do was reseat the ground wire and it's working great. Thanks for the replies and the advice! I appreciate it.

I was about to post that in my car the ground in the socket pulled out and I had to do the same glad you fixed it!
