Doing a Turbo Conversion

I was just curious? Can i use the head from my 4g63 n/t motor on a block that i am going to rebuild w/ turbo internals?? If i can, should i upgrade the springs in the head?? I am going to be bolting on a small 16g. What psi can i run with stock interals and stock head?? Do i neeed to change the cams int eh non turbo to turbo??

You need to do a search ive done it, and ive used a non turbo head and it works too.

The only differences between the N/T head from a 2.0 engine and the head from a turbocharged engine are the turbo oil feed port were the oil line connects is blocked off by a bolt and the camshafts have different duration and timing.

The 1993-1994 turbo m/t intake cam and exhaust cam is biggest.

1. All 4g63n/t cams are the same: 252/244 duration
2. All a/t turbo cams are the same 244/244 duration
3. 1993-1994 turbo m/t cams had 252/252 duration and the slightly higher lift
4. All 244 duration cams have a bit less lift than 252 duration cams
5. The turbo m/t intake cam has 5 degrees more advanced timing over the N/T intake cam.

The 1993-1994 for is obviously the best cam choice as it has the most duration and best lift, which will help flow more when the piston velocity increases at higher RPM's. You do not need to upgrade the stock valve springs and with stock camshafts it is almost pointless. I suggest that you try to keep you boost at 12 PSI (where the small 16g's waste gate should actuate) but only if you are going to be running turbo M/T 450cc injectors and the turbo fuel pump.
