thermostat housing doing a swap...

I recently have done the 1g swap in my 2g and i am almost done my question is about the thermostat housing, I ordered an engine from japan and noticed that the 1g does not have a radiator cap on it so there would be no way to fill up the engine with water. The only thing I found out is I have to get one from a us motor is this true? If so can somone tell me what year would work on mine so I can get one. Somone was telling me just to fill the engine up with water and then fill up the resovoir up and the engine will suck it up but that sounds ghetto to me so some helpful info would be nice thanks.

JDM's have the cap on the radiator. So you can either get a JDM radiator or get a USDM thermostat housing. The latter will be cheaper, and easier. If you are using a 6 bolt head you will need a 6 bolt thermostat housing as the 7 bolt housing will not bolt to the 6 bolt head. Check the classifieds, or PM me since I probably have one laying around.
