awd conversion

hey guys,. So I have a 96 gs-t and I want to make it awd i already know what I kinda of need I know i need awd tranny transfer case drive shalf sub frame gas tank and exhaust and rear shocks but my question is if i don't have all of those parts can I just get the Tranny and weld the center diff and get away with it until i get all of my parts.

No, Its cheaper to buy a awd and sell the GST.

Youre looking at alot of time and money.

And anyone that has done this will tell you its not worth the time and money. Just sell the gst and buy a gsx.

I would have to disagree. I am in the process of my awd swap and all the parts were a lot cheaper then buying a gsx. My awd parts cost me $700 plus all the other little things like a new clutch, flywheel which came to about $1000 or so.

So for some people doing a awd swap on a gst is a lot cheaper, like in my case.

Yes i believe you can... But unless this car has sentimental value i would just sell it and buy a gsx it will be much easier and probably cheaper in the end.

It cost me a $1,000.00. Worth it or not, I kind of just did it to keep myself entertained!

shit its basically a bolt on mod for a 2g. if your cr needs anything like a clutch or a tranny rebuild you might as well just do it. its soo easy.

Yep, very easy. The only thing I have a problem with, is the evap purge solenoid was on the fwd gas tank, but not the awd one so I get the evap code!

I'm in the process of doing it now. I just finished parting out everything out of my donor car recently, except for the driveshaft hangers. All the spot welds are drilled out on the rear one except I think it's rusted on. On the front one, I couldn't see some of the spot welds because it was all dirty. I scraped the dirt and tar off and now I see no circles. Then I need to find a friend with a welder. Other than those, it's not bad. I'm going to start to take apart my GS-T this weekend.

it all depends if you have the money. i actually have everything for the rear end (gas tank, tunnel brackets, entire subframe w/bolts, etc) and i'm in san diego too if you're interested.

In the end you'll still need a transmission and a clutch...up to you if you want to spend the extra time and money. Now if you were already looking to to this swap then yes it is the perfect time to start
