I'm looking for on hand experience from anyone that running Dogbox (helical cut tooth or straight cut tooth) from Dogoxracing.

I'm considering buying the dogbox but it seem that i need a lot of info from anyone or dogboxracing about the gear ratio, rated torque or any optional item included?

My car is a FWD using AWD locked gearbox. Right now i'm using an EVOIII OEM gearbox with DSM 2G secondary ratio (57/15). I'm leaning toward Dogboxracing because of the helical cut tooth and price. Detail of the car latest specification can be browse at my profile. This is the info that i needed:

1.What the rated torque for the helical cut dogbox?
2. Is the helical cut tooth dogbox using OEM evoIII gear with modification done for dog change?
3. What the gear ratio 1st-4th and Secondary ratio?
4. What detail item inside the dogbox with the USD2800.00 price tag?

Thanks.

with 550 lb ft of torque and over 800hp to the wheels, I think I'd be looking into a straight cut gear. I'm not saying anything neg towards DOGBOX, just my 2 pennies.. Unless there is a lot I'm missing about the helical toothed dog box, which I am very willing to learn about!

there rated to about 650wtq and it uses stock ratios and evoIII 3rd and 4th gear ratios

all details available on our builds is available at Welcome to DogBox Racing! Home of the Fastest DSM's in the Tri-State!

Not be an ass, but you said that the details of your builds (assuming you mean transmissions, since that's what we're talking about here), are on the web site, which doesn't say anything about your dog box other then "call us"... No information there other then it's in your 9 second shop cars.

DSM DOGBOX Package .................................................................................................$2,800.00

This package is for those who live to race. This is our dogbox that has been proven in both 9 second shop cars. If you are looking for a transmission that is going to go into gear at just about any RPM then this is the transmission for you.We do not recommend this setup for a daily driver.

Call for more info....We will be happy to answer any of your questions.

our dogbox is stock ratio and evoIII 3rd and 4th ratio. they are helical cut gears with dogbox engagements. as for power rating it is ~800hp ~650tq

If my car keep breaking the OEM EVOIII transmission 4th gear on the dyno and 1st n 2nd on the strip with only 650whp and 450lbft of torque, what make your ratio stand the 650lbft of torque if it still using a stock ratio?

I have worked on many Hewland dog box trannies. They used straight cut gears. The drive dogs, not the gears are the key here. A heli cut gear can still be very strong. It is the flats on the gear side that couple the power. The sliding gear on the forks. The reason for no street use is that as you shift, the square edges on the dogs wear and it will become hard to shift and pop out of gear. The gear teeth are fine , dogs are trashed $$. It s the style of hub contact that differs. Look at a synchro hub slider vs. the dog engagement . Tres...

DSM helical cut transmissions shear the actual gear teeth at high torque, the engagement method doesn't change this.
