Does anyone use the 143 degree thermostat?

wow that sucks it gets so hot. You think just cause youre missing a fan?

I think its mostly the fact that when its that hot outside I'm running the a/c. With one fan it struggles. When I had both the stockers on it was much better.

Some ducting or a vented hood would really help. Cant expect it to run like stock with the fmic in front.

I'm switching from an ebay core to an ETS core at the moment. I'm hoping the ETS will breathe better.

I don't even run a thermostat.

...

Though if the temp is over 100° out eventually temps will still hit 240°.
Sounds like it's working out that way. ;) :p Pulling the t-stat is a band-aid "fix", just like running a colder one. You'll get to circulating coolant faster, but in the end, you'll still be battling airflow, engine temps, etc.

I read somewere that it is bad for the motor to not have a t-stat installed.

There was something bad about having the coolant always flowing, it's not cooling the internal metal as good. So even though the guage stays in the proper range and says that you are not overheating, it will not be doing as well of a job cooling the metal inside the motor. Coolant needs the pressure from the t-stat spring to get into small valleys/areas/tunnels/passages letting the coolant stay in the same area longer. Instead of just always flowing...

IDK just my .02

I have been thinking about getting an even cooler thermostat than the one I'm running right now because my car is still on the high side of the stock gauge. I have a 170-180* (can't remember) thermo and a mishimoto x-line radiator with 2 H.O. 12" mishimoto fans always on. It does run cooler now but still too hot for my liking.

Here is your problem, those fans blow LESS than the stock fans. Get yourself some SPAL fans. The thermostat won't determine how cold you run, it just allows the coolant to circulate earlier.

If you try running colder than 180* you will not enter learn mode/post warm up mode. You need ECMLink or another tuning solution that allows coolant offset so you fool the ECU to believe the coolant is hotter than what it is.

I used this thermostat when i did my build, only thing is I dont have anyway to monitor the temps. :(
I did notice that on the stock temp gauge the needle stays just a tad bit under the "middle" mark, yes i know its not accurate at all but that's all the monitoring i have right now.
