I was replacing the stock stereo/tape deck with a better set up and forgot there is always one live wire to feed the clock and blew the 10Amp "room", NOT the "radio", fuse. No interior lights worked after that. The interior lights started working again after I replaced the fuse. Also, I did not re-connect the black/yellow car stereo dimmer wire - just taped it over.
After I put everything back together, I realized my dimmer switch no longer works - the dash lights are on full time. All else appears to work... at least I have not noticed any other problems yet.
1) have I blown the dimmer switch along with the 10Amp fuse with my antics?
2) does the stereo dimmer wire need to be connected to close the circuit and for the dimmer switch to work?
3) if the hot wire brushed against the black/yellow car stereo dimmer wire and blown the fuse, did it take the dimmer switch out with it as well?
There are many dozen threads dealing with dimmer switch problems, mostly 2G, on here. None appears to apply to the above scenario.
Where do I look first to find the problem?
