different control arms (2g)

I ripped the boots on my lower control arms (not the lateral ones) and I'm in the market for some new ones. I was looking at ebay for them, but they say that they fit 95-99.

I called the stealership and they said that the 95-96 are the same, but the 97-99 control arms are different. Keep in mind I'm talking about the corved arm, not the straight one.

Does anyone have any experience with what will work on my car? Do I really need to replace them if I know the balljoints are still good. I know stuff can get into the boot now and hurt the balljoint. Can I just buy new boots?

The one you want is called the "compression arm".

One of mine was won through an eBay auction. The auction listed it for 95-99 Eclipse/Talon (and sebring/avenger as well, if my memory serves me correctly). It fit just fine on my '99.

I'd guess that the dealership guys is full of crap. I can't think of one possible difference between a '96 compression arm and a '97 compression arm.

The 97-99 has an offset in flat bar that connects to the chassis where its flipped on the driver side to give (More or less? I forget which way it is) caster than the passenger side for the crown in the road.

Heres a thread about the control arms, and a kit available thats much cheaper than buying the curved arm alone.

Thanks for the replys. I have a parts car that is a 95 and I have a 98 talon, both autos. I should be able to take the arms off the 95 and use them on my 98 since they dont have ripped boots and the balljoints seem to be in good shape?

Sounds reasonable. You'd also be getting equal caster out of the swap. Good stuff.
