CTS-V Brembo with 14" rotors bracket attemp

I would like to see this on a 1G, any plans on mounting this to a 1G knuckle and taking pics?

i don't mind if you send me your 1g knucklesLOL, i know 100% it will work on 1g because it has way more clearance on there smaller knuckles than 2g. you dsm don't know how lucky you are with all these cheap brake option. I own an m3 and just to see brembos under my rims will cost over 3K.

I actually do used machined spacer\washer because regular store washer tolerance are not good enough. There no point to mill the offset in to the bracket because every knuckles is hair different. The offset is only 3mm so it’s no big deal.
Sorry, I can’t just hand over the spec\drawing to you because I went through a few prototypes to get to this stage. If anyone wants one,I can send you a set with machined spacer for 75 plus actual shipping, this would help split up my initial investment.
Once there in your hands, you can you could do what ever you want with it and i wouldn't mind...:sneaky:

Understood; I had no intentions of selling these, I just figured if you were paying a machine shop labor to hand cut/stamp these I'd see if I could offer you a cheaper alternative. Sounds like you've got it taken care of :thumb:

I'm definately interested in ditching my Baer Track set for this, do you have any feedback on brake feel/performance and pics of the set-up on your 2g?

We currently have about 1 feet of snow here. I did had the evo brembo it was night and day difference between my stock awd. They have about the same amount of torque so I think it should be as good or better brake feel due to the larger rotors.
I don't really care about selling this, I wish it was the other way around. I just really like to have these nice looking calipers on my car and didn't want to feel bad spending tons of money getting them on. You guys are only paying fraction of what I spent to have theses on.

Question, the evo 10 and evo 8 pads are different. So would using the evo10 pads in a evo 8 caliper enable using a larger rotor (13" and greater) on the evo 8 caliper?

From what I can tell looking at pictures, the evo 10 pads have holes for the pins spaced farther from the pad material.

Does anyone have comparisions of the evo 8 and evo 10 caliper castings?

No, evo 10 9 8 pads are all the same and so is cts-v,sti.... I had compare them before the only thing i notice that are different are the pins design and maybe the clips too. The pads are 2.38" tall. I'm sure you can put evo 8 calipers on 13" or greater.

Yea but the problem is with increasing rotor size the top of the pad moves away from the rotor top. does that make sense? so about 0.1 to 0.2 inch gap between rotor top and pad top i think.

Using a 13" or greater rotor would give a good increase in braking torque. a 13.1 would give about 62l in-lbs over the evo 59kin-lbs. using a 13.8 evo 10 rotor or 14 from a 370z with the evo 8/9 caliper would give about 67-68 in-lbs whic would be a really worthwhile upgrade

i thought of that too, evo 8 with 14" but i was afraid that would give us too much torque and front bias. still require 18" min rims which many people don't like.

If the biasing won't get messed up, I would like to try out the Evo 8 calipers with 14" rotors.

Did you guy ever notice the guy who first did the ctsv swap with cobra rotors that had to shim the calipers brake pads to work. Since cobra roto are only 1.10" thick and these ctsv brembo need 1.26-1.3" thick rotors.

Anyway to mount ctsv on the stock location you will need a 13-13.1" rotors with a radial height of 2.5" and a 32mm thickness. Milling to the calipers mounting tab is also needed to center the calipers. How many rotors out there you know that meets those requirement not including 5 X 4.5" bolt pattern and 67.1mm center bore.

So i have a 1G and am very interested in this brake upgrade. So my question is with these calipers i would wanna run a 17 inch rim if possible. Would i have to run 13' rotors? I was also looking into 3kGT calipers because I could fit evo rims on them, or so I've read. Would these calipers (CTS-V or 3KGT)be even worth it?

Glad to see your putting those CTS-V calipers I found you to good use KMV!!

Your the man when it comes to getting this shyt done.. When you think about it, you could have a good market on your hands when you get all the options of the Evo Brembo's and the CTS-V calipers/rotors figuired out?? Keep up the good work man.

I have been reading all about this swap and a buddy of mine has a cts-v and i was looking at it and it seems that the rear calipers are larger. i found a spec sheet for the front brakes on ls1 tech but i cant seem to find one for the rears? they also seem to be less expensive, here is the part number: 89047742

What do you guys think?

so your saying teh ctsv rears have more piston area than the evo? honestly doubt it

Even glancing at the pictures the CTS-V rear calipers look bigger. Evo rears are single piston (one on each side?), those look like 4 piston rears and huge.

guess it's time for a bracket to match the cts-v fronts to the cts-v rears....hint hint ;)

If you get the opportunity, could you please weigh the CTS-V caliper and rotor?

Thank you very much! :)

I want to compare vs. the Evo Brembo setup.

If the cts-v brakes go on my car i will be using a 13" cobra rotor since i want to keep my 17" wheels. I know this isnt the best upgrade but if i can find the info on the rear calipers i would guess they have larger pistons. i have tried to email brembo but i cant seem to find the right person to email.
