After replacing my master cylinder, putting in a stainless line and removing the fluid collection unit there's a noise that sounds like creaking rubber or metal whenever I push the clutch pedal in. I have the pedal adjusted as far out as possible for the most travel and the noise mainly starts a little over half way through the pedal travel and continues all the way to the floor. I can slightly feel it in the pedal as I press it. It is definitely coming from the slave cylinder rod/fork area. I have greased the hell out of everything down there and nothing is helping. Is the end of the slave rod supposed to have a plastic cap or anything?

Maybe the fork is creaking on the pivot ball. Was it ever lubed?

I haven't opened up the clutch at all so I've never lubed anything in the bell housing. But it wasn't making this noise before I replaced the MC so I don't get how something like that could have changed.

Are you sure your adjustment is correct? It is possible to have TOO much travel and you are bending your pressure plate forks.

I followed Jack Transmissions method exactly so it should be ok. I think it may be coming from the slave push rod pressing against the fork. Grease didn't help but when I put a thin piece of plastic between them it seemed to help a little.

wen mine was doing this the pedal was cracked behind the assist spring, couldn't even see it to diagnose untill i pulled the entire clutch pedal cage out of the car to machinebushings for it only to discover bushings weren't the issue, i almost had a "tw o piece" pedal LOL check it now it's not that uncommon, when i posted about mine i got a lot of "same heres" from other people

Thanks for the advice! Where did it sound like it was coming from on yours though? The sound is definitely much louder near the slave cylinder/clutch fork area on mine.

Grease the pocket on the end of the fork. The other thing to remember is that without the accumulator on the clutch line, the motion of the slave cylinder is much quicker and a bit harder on the internals of the slave cylinder itself. It is possible that the creak you are hearing is the seal slowly blowing by or catching the inside of the cylinder because of that faster action. If it is an old slave cylinder, check the inside of the rod boot for any hydraulic fluid, see if it loses any travel if you hold the clutch pedal in, and see if the noise changes if you push the pedal in real slow.

mine was creaking inside the driver compartment, you could feel it in the pedal really. There was also an occasional "tick" from it as well, this went on for a couple of years (didn't make the noise 24/7) before i finally found the issue, it cracked on the hole where the clutch master rod goes through the pedal and being behind that spring you see when you look uder the dash, it was impossible to diagnose without pulling the entire clutch pedal/cage

I'm with turboglenn on this one. I'd bet the pedal assembly bracket is cracked like mine was. The whole thing is just made from sheetmetal. Unfortunately it is buried so far up under the dash it is almost impossible to see. I took mine out (pita!) to put in bushings and found a huge crack in it. I welded it up with some reinforcement on it and it's held up now for years.
