My clutch pedal will sometimes feel notchy. After pumping it a few times it goes away. Does anyone know what this might be?

On a 1Ga, it means the linkage is bad. Your clutch pedal is attached to a bellcrank that pivots in some bushings. At the end of this bellcrank, there is a small plate with an arm that attaches to the clutch master cylinder. It is held on by a bolt and over time, the flat will start to round and won't let you get full travel on your clutch pedal. What you describe is what mine felt like before it got really bad.

To test, push the clutch in all the way. Slowly, let it out. Now reach down and grab it with your hand and pull up. Did it come up more? If so, inspect this linkage.
