Ok my issue started when I misadjusted my clutch pedal and popped my master cylinder. I put a new one in (along with a new slave) only to find it didn't have quite enough throw to disengage my clutch due to a worn clutch fork. At this point I ordered a clutch fork and tob from thedsmgraveyard (2 weeks ago, parts still aren t here, that's another story in itself) at any rate since I can't be without a car, I went ahead and shimmed the pivot ball, and used an advance auto tob to toss it all together in hopes it would get me by till spring when I could tear back into it in warmer weather. Upon visual inspection the clutch and everything looked ok when I took the trans out, just the clutch fork was very worn. When I put it back together the fork was pretty far forward but after adjusting everything, it seemed to work ok.
Clutch fork before removal looked like this. [.||.........]
Clutch fork after shimming looks like this... [.......||...]
Within the first 5 mins the tob was making noise, at least I'm assuming that's what it is because when I let all the way out on the clutch the pedal vibrates and I get a nasty noise but when I press the pedal down even just a little bit it goes away. The clutch I have is an act I was told a 2900 but may be a 2600.
The other issue I have is the clutch engages way lower when the car is cold, even as far as my clutch fork is shimmed it still grips at the bottom of the pedal and that's with proper maximum adjustment. It does this every time the car is cold, idk what the issue is I'm thinking maybe a pressure plate issue? Idk I'm about to rip the transmission out again so I could take a few pics if need be but does anyone have ideas of what could be causing the issues? Possible fixes? Any help would be appreciated at this point.
Thanks, Aj
