Hello there.. was a newbie dsmer .. I had my Talon TSi for a month before I crashed into another car in the oncoming lane (lost control of my car) I have front subframe damage and I am trying to determine whether its repairable or if I should sell it. I appreciate any opinions, I loved this car and I really want to drive it again. How much is it going to cost me to get my car back? I am attaching photos, thankyou

that car will most likely never be right again. Best of luck with your car.

Yikes! Well, the car looked like it was clean before the accident but unfortunately it looks like its toast now. The best thing you could do is try to get a estimator from a local body shop to come out and give you a good idea of what it might cost to repair it, if they even can.

If you want to have a DSM again I think the best thing you could do, keeping things cost effective, would be to buy a 2g shell and swap everything over from your totaled DSM.

:dsm:

What happened for you to loose control? Did you decide to boost hard on the road?

We just picked up a super clean 95 awd panda shell with original 68,000 miles for 400 bucks. So they are still out there.

x2

I'm guessing rain and trying to ""show-off." But Noobs should drive stock DSMs with the boost set at 10lbs for a year before turning the boost up LOL

Thats easily3-4,000 worth of body work. It probably still wont be true. Best thing would be to get a new shell.

There is a TSi near me for 700, Auto, AWD. Shells are out there. You don't need to be trying to show off. I've hydroplanned doing 25 mph with new tires. Shit scarred the #### out of me.

Yup, that sucks... :(

Like everyone has said, that will be extremely expensive to fix and chances are it till never be right. The best route would be to find a new shell and use the wrecked on as a donor car. Best of luck to you... and at least you are ok!

I have always felt the brakes in 2Gs are dreadfully inadequate, that's why I recommend it as the first upgrade. Not only that but lightening up the car can really help. The cars are just too heavy, and even if you lighten up the car by 1000 lbs, the brakes are still woefully inadequate and will become so hot they almost do nothing (cook) if you are trying to slow down from very high speeds. In my experience, slowing down as fast as possible, 50mph is about all the brakes can do before they are too hot to work anymore. (I'm talking 135 to 75mph, then they don't work anymore) Not sure if that would have made any difference in this case.

Sorry about your misfortune. Glad you are OK, so now it's a lesson learned instead of a coffin. (even though it may not be your fault).

Looks like you had removed the steel bumper. I'm wondering the approximate speed of the collision. I'm curious what speed required to 'total' a car without steel bumpers.

PS< That main frame post probably ####ed their shit up.
