Something I ran into. Picked the car up for cheap for parts last winter.
Went to clean up the crank sprocket and install it. Possibly from over tightening the harmonic balancer bolts since its one of those holes cracking out? Just something to look out for. One of the other bolt holes has a tiny crack also.

I broke one of those once on a buddy's car by applying outward torque to the bolt hole. It is extremely soft for what it is.

That said, I said screw it and just bolted a spare pulley wheel and used it to turn the gear. ^_^

Bump for an old post, but came across this cleaning my new (used) 6-bolt. It's worse then the one in the first post. This crack goes all the way to the other side.

Is this sprocket 6-bolt specific, or can I just pull one off my junk 2g 7-bolt?
