Ok, my motor has been running now for two days since the rebuild and we've had the basic problems. Today, however, my mechanic and I had it on the hoist trying to hunt down a leak (which we found) and we noticed that the sprocket on the crank-shaft has a little play in it. The keyway doesn't seem to be warn, so he measured the play and it came to about 1/32 of an inch. Is this something normal or something I should worry about? Has this happend to you guys? Thanks for any help.
Reggie.

I'd find out the spec size on the key and measure yours on the car. I have seen them smear before causing the crank to spin freely and the timing belt not move an inch bending quite a few valves.

1/32nd seems like it might be on the large side. You might just want to get a new key and put that in to see if it helps.

Your talking about rotating play right? If your talking about in and out play then you might need to tighten the crank bolt or get your thrust bearing checked out and make sure your not getting crankwalk.
