Hey guys-

I know I need to find myself a new timing belt tensioner arm, and Ill get the tensioner pulley and the idle pulley when I get my timing belt kit, but I've noticed I'm missing a few more parts, and I'd love to just grab them off the 7 bolt sitting in the garage.

Anyways, I'm missing a hydraulic tensioner, the crank sprocket, the aluminum wheel that goes between the crank sprocket and the block (for the crank angle sensor). Somebody told me i need to get a 6 bolt aluminum wheel, because the timing will be different between the 1g and 2g, but If I'm using a 2g head with a 1g CAS, that does the job of both the 2g Cam and Crank sensors, so why would I need to get the 1g version?

Also, I'm missing an oil pump sprocket and the bolt that holds it in.. as well as the bolt that holds the other sprocket to the Balance Shaft. Does anyone know If I can just rip these out of the pump I have now for my 2g and use on the 6 bolt?

Id just tear into it now, but I'm trying to leave it as in as good condition as I can so it has a little bit of resale value still.

Thanks guys.

The timing belt tensioner needs to be from a 6 bolt. I believe the crank sproket and the oil sproket is the same for all years. There isn't a spot on the 6 bolt front case to mount the crank angle sensor, you need to wire in a 1G CAS. Did you remove the balance shafts?

Awesome to hear. I don't have to worry about that aluminum piece that the 2g uses as the crank angle sensor, right? Should I just leave it in there as a spacer... or will that 16th of an inch not really matter. Ive already got the 1g CAS in my head, I just need to splice it into the 2g lines.

I did take the balance shafts out.

Thanks man, I'll tear into it tomorrow and let you know if it works out ok.

The aluminum wheel from a 6 bolt has no timing ears on it like the 2g and the timing mark is in a different spot.

You can shave the ears off and use the 2g. Before you put the head on spin the engine to TDC veryify it by measuring piston to deck clearance.. When you find exact deadnuts TDC on #1 mark the wheel inline with the six bolt pointer.
