Whats parts can i reuse if i decide to go with the 6 bolt swap?

All my timing components are brand new, can i reuse them on my 6 bolt block?

What about my 2g intake & exhaust manifolds?

oilpans are diffrent correct?

i have a fresh 2g head with 500 miles on it, should i sell this and get a 1g head ? ive heard the holes can be drilled out. Is this just a waste of time?

im going to be using the wiseco/eagle piston combo and a stroker crank.

ANYTHING at all i should save off my 7 bolt motor before parting it off?

also are cams & camgears from the 7bolt useable on the 6 bolt head?

The timing belt and the Idler pulley are the same. The tensioner is different.

The Exh manifold is the same, but the Int. manifold is different. The 1G Int. Manifold has bigger ports.

Oil pans - different

I would only stick with the 2G if you plan on porting it and porting it is only necessary at a very high HP level. I plan on making 600 whp and I'm running an unported 1G head. A 1G head flows more than a 2G head stock for stock.

Cams and cam gears are the interchangable.

I recommend the 2G top side for budget and ease of installation purposes.

The 2G head is MORE efficient because the injectors are more aimed at the Intake Valves then the floor of the port like on 1G heads. The port velocity is better, and atomization will be better.

If you have never tried to install a 1G topside where a 2G topside used to reside, take my word for it and use the 2G stuff. A 1G head requires a 1G intake, the 1G intake does not have any provisions for the MDP sensor to mount, the coil pack is in a different location (which means stretching the crap out of your 2G harness-or re-routing at least). The only thing I would note with the 2G head is that you have to drill out the head bolt holes to 12.7mm (or 1/2" for those that don't know the conversion)

Cams and gears and all that stuff are compatable....except like noted above, the tensioner arms are different.

What ever you decide to do, good luck...I like the clean OEM appearance and functionality., but you are your own person so feel free to do it as you wish.

i am unable to find the specs and am curious as to what the difference in the 1g cams and 2g cams are?
if you have a pair of 1g cams sitting around would it be worth the energy to swap them into the 2g before the motor is put back in the car?
