Confused about T-25/T-28 Turbo

So im Looking for a replacment turbo, two people have contacted me so far.

1st said that he has a T25/T28 off of a ZX, Will this work and is it a good turbo? What will I have to do to make it fit on my 2G? Hes saying he was told its a T28

2nd guy said he has a T-28 Ball bearing Oil/coolant cooled Turbo off a skyline. Same question, Will it fit? Is it good. Thanks guys!

a t25 is the stock turbo for the 2g and they are junk! t28 is bigger and competes with the 16g. although the t28 costs more it wouldnt matter. and its a direct bolt to a 2g turbo mani. if u can get it cheaper than 800 go for it!

Neither one of T-28's you have listed will bolt up to a DSM so the one you need is the one they sell at Forced Performance like the one I run.
Look at my photo album in my profile it's the Forced Performance BT-28 ported & I'm very pleased with my choice look's like the stock T-25 but the interals are hopped up.

they arent the only ones that have them! the cheapest i have found the t28 that is a driect bolt on is $800. at fp its like 840

They don't sell the T-25 at Forced Performance but they do sell the FP BT-28 that's the one I run but I had mine ported.

That Turbo is junk & it's not a Direct bolt on.

Well, its probably not going to be good for a daily because it will probably blow/seize within the first 1K miles. Don't buy ebay turbos, period.

If you are looking for a stock replacement turbo just check the classifieds. Or buy a new one. But you are better off getting the Big T28 if it comes down to it.

If you want to find a t-25 your best bet is putting up an ad in the Want To Buy (WTB) section of our classifieds. You going back and forth posting up ads asking if "this is ok?" isn't the way to go about finding it.

Expect to pay about $50-$75+ shipping cost on a used, but working, stock 2g turbo. If you want an increase in performance while appearing stock under the hood, listen to the suggestions above, get a t28 from FP.

first of all never buy an ebay turbo its like buying a used t25. 2nd if ## gonna run a t28 u better have rods to back it up! try extremepsi.com u could also go with a 14b which will be better for your app or a 16g but u need to upgrade your fuel system first. bigger fuel pump will run a 16g. get 550cc injectors will keep from hitting fuel cut during high boosting. u cant just jump to a t28 without having sopmething to back it up or ull just hit fuel cut once your spooled up.

Look for a used 14B. You can get an entire setup to install a 14B (including the turbo) for about $100.

Sorry Gofer the noob in me took over, id be happy to pay 50-75 for a T25 but im iffy about the classifieds

You can get a 14B for $50-$75, then all you really need is a 1g oil feed line and a J pipe (which both can be had for $25ish). You re-use the stock coolant lines from your existing t25.

The OP is asking about t25/t28 options because of cost, getting a tdo5 turbo (14b/16g) isn't going to be cheap. Maybe the cost of the turbo will initially be $100 but you can tack on the $300 install kit and its not so cheap anymore.

If you're "iffy" about our classifieds I don't know why you'd be so quick to jump onto eBay? You're looking for a t25 and your on a DSM BOARD, there is no better place to put a t25 WTB ad then here. Every 2g owner and their mom has done a turbo upgrade, leaving their t25 sitting in storage in a box somewhere.

Like my dad used to say when we'd go fishing, "you can't catch a fish unless the baits in the water." Nobody is going to know your looking for a t25 unless you post a WTB ad and in here your just going to get people telling you to get a different turbo altogether...
