T-25 vs T-28 Comparison

Does anyone know how I can tell the difference with the turbo still on the car. I got a new car and I think it has a T-28 on it. Any pictures would be great.

Post a picture of the compressor wheel and compressor housing looking down at the wheel, and I should be able to tell.

They are identical from the outside.
The way to tell, is to look at how many fins the turbine wheel has, or how large the compressor wheel is. Also how bored out the compressor housing is to make up for the larger compressor wheel.

just take 2 min to take off the intake and you can tell by looking at it.

About 1/2 way down on the page there are pics of a T-25 and a T-28. Obviously the only difference is the wheels in the turbo. The housing looks the same. If your car has a bunch of miles on it but the turbo looks fairly clean/new you very well may have had the turbo replaced. If the turbo looks old and dirty, its probably the stocker.

EDIT: Below is a link to a Garrett T-25, although I am not sure how similar it is to the Mitsubishi T-25 (although I think Garrett made the Mitsubishi T-25):

The T28 exhaust housing inlet is significantly larger then the T25.

FYI The 2g uses a Garret turbo, Mitsubishi does not have its own T25

Just the Exhaust side is Mitsu and the center section and compressor side is Garret
