Recently my car had a slowly increasing decel noise that would dissapear when clutch pedal was pressed. Going to work and it was getting very bad. Now my car has a grinding/clutch dragging noise at idle. It will go away with pressing clutch pedal. But it seems to lock the shifter into a gear, or wont grab any. With some clutch pumping and rolling backwards it will shift normally, but still grinds. SC and MC and seeming to work properly and adjusted according to Jack's Trans. , and clutch fork wont pull out or doesnt seem snapped. There was a very small bent triangle metal piece in clutch fork boot. Think PP or TOb. But it barely has a neutral unless clutch is pressed even though the trans is not in gear. Much advice and help needed . :banghead:

Sounds like a throw out bearing. A common problem is simple rattling at idle that goes away once its under pressure from the fork, that would apply here too. I'd check it out before you drive it too much, you don't want to lose that out on the road...

Appreciate the input guys. Im hoping TOB as well, but it does seem a little intense. Havent driven her since, just waiting on a buddy with a trailer. Should have everything dissasemmbled tonight. Will keep it updated... hopefully im not asking for more help and its just the release bearing

Pulled trans last night, Nothing seems completely destroyed. Expected a sure sign of my problem. Clutch disc does have some unusual wear on flywheel side. Will upload pictures ASAP

Not gonna bother resizing and uploading images. Got a new clutch kit and flywheel friction plate on the way. Hopefully I can put a 'resolved' on this after I get it installed. Thanks again guys for the input

Well, threw in the new clutch kit. And after starting her up, go to release clutch she pulls forward. With engine off or clutch pressed I can grab every gear, but reverse grinds and does nothing. And syncros block 1-5. Thinking blown trans. Input? Anyone? Preferably a wizard or someone possessing talents in the darkarts.

Did you check the step height on the flywheel?
Properly adjust/bleed the clutch?
When the tranny was out, did you run through the gears and check for wear/play on the input and intermediate shaft bearings?
Did you check the tranny fluid carefully for any metal flakes or particles?
Is your linkage adjusted properly at the shifter?

installed a new friction plate on flywheel and the step is on. master and slave are farely new. but i just dont understand how those leaking would make the trans ( the is in neutral) move. my slave moves accordingly, about a thumb width.

Ok, now I'm confused. Read what you type before you post because what you said doesnt make much sense. Its hard to help without a specific, clear description of the problem.

Are you saying that with the transmission in neutral the car will move when you let up on the clutch?

Correct. With trans in neutral, i depress clutch pedal start car, as soon as I release pedal car goes forward. After a bit of depressing clutch and trying to get gears to go in, it would stop but you can hear a grind/whinning hum noise.

So your transmission is stuck in gear. Have someone run through all the gears from inside the car while you watch under the hood to see if the shifter cables are actually moving the selector in and out of each gear properly. You can also disconnect the cables from the selector and manually shift through the gears by hand. Put the transmission in neutral by hand and then start the car and see if you have the same problem.

If you are absolutely SURE the transmission is in neutral and it STILL moves I would suspect a broken shift fork inside the transmission.

my friends car did the same exact thing as ## describing. he put new clutch and flywheel. and same thing. he ended up jst putting a new fork and pivot ball and it shifted good and went in to all gears..as far as the rattle noise or whatever you said, my trany started doing same thing, i put new tob (thinking that was it because when i press clutch in the noise will go away), new act 2600, fork pivotball, flywheel, well that wasnt my problem. it eneded up being my trany. my shaft bearings shot

The rattle seemed to quiet down/ change with my new TOB. The old one was OEM but would rattle bad when you shake it.

Yes, I seems to be. If I start in 2nd or other gears, it will move like its in gear. But reverse just spins/grinds. My input shaft had zero play. But I do know my output shaft to TCASE and quite a bit of play in and out.
