Hi, I have exactly the same problem. The car stalled and won't start. There is no voltage going to the pump connector. I would definitely appreciate an update.

I’ll list everything I’ve done if I resolve this issue. I’m going back from a vacation shortly. When I’m back I’m gonna replace the ignition switch to see if that’ll do anything. It seems a lot of people in the forums had similar issue but never had a proper answer.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I am from the Czech Republic (Europe), finding parts for my Eclipse 420a 1995 RS 5q manual is a big problem. My story - the car was imported from the USA in 1998 until 2003 it was driven, then it was just parked. The engine has 127,000 miles.

I cleaned the tank, replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, injectors, coil, spark plugs, cables. The car started, but it didn't work very well, after stepping on the gas it started to miss and choke. I got the control unit, which I replaced including the crank and cam sensors, no change. I drove the car for a drive and after 100 meters it suddenly turned off and won't start, the engine turns with the starter, the distributions are fine and the pressures in the cylinders. No voltage on the fuel pump connector.

I returned the unit and the old sensors to the original driver, which worked until recently. Still no voltage, I would like to measure the relays (asd, fuel) could you advise me what values should be on the pins? You are right, the switch box or a broken wire could cause these problems. I will try to measure the relay connectors this afternoon and publish the values. I apologize for my English, I am using a translator.

You have a Imported 2G 420A car?
Yes Eclipse 420a 2G - 1995 5q manual.

For the relays I can give you a diagram and testing for you to try. So far I changed Camshaft Position Sensor, Crankshaft Position Sensor, Ignition Coil Pack, Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires, both ASD and Fuel Pump Relays, both Negative and Positive Battery Terminal.

Checking ASD relay: ASD RELAY
Checking Fuel Pump Relay: I believe it’s the same

Thanks for the information.

I replaced almost everything you wrote, except the relays mentioned.
I can't find the ASD relay in our local stores, is there a replacement on the European market? I guess both relays are the same (ASD and fuel)

I'll try to measure it with a multimeter this afternoon and post photos with the values.

Thank you very much for the materials.

Anytime, If you can’t find one then I suggest eBay.

The ASD relay has a notch near the middle and the Fuel Pump Relay has a notch on the left side. They look the same including the terminals but their connectors are directional to fit them.

The connector sockets are different, but the relays are the same?

It seems to be, I’m not too sure but for testing they’re the same. Even if you swapped it they won’t fit

Hello. Yesterday I went to my friend's place to check the functionality of the relay on a stabilized power supply. The relay works, clicks, passes voltage. Today I connected the tested relay to the car, I turn the key and I hear the fuel pump. The car started. I suspect that the culprit of the problem is the cold and rainy weather, or just the relays needed to be driven in another car. Anyway, the car starts, after adding gas it turns off, chokes. I am attaching a video taken today. Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

Ok just checking because it could be as simple as the fuel pump went bad because the car was sitting so long
The fuel pump has been replaced, along with cleaning of the tank and fuel system, including a new fuel filter and injectors

Hi, I managed to find the fault from the video above - P0171 lean fuel mixture.

It was a faulty fuel pressure regulator, all the gasoline flowed directly into the fuel return line, into the tank. I figured it out by closing the return hose with the engine running and the fuel pressure increased, the engine started running normally.

Regarding the fuel pump power supply, I just cleaned and stretched the pins in the connector where the relay belongs and plugged everything back in. The car started working. I'll order new relays and wiring for them anyway.
