:confused:my problem is if I go WOT black smoke poor's out my exhaust a lot and if I sit at idle and rev it a little a black cloud will come out flowed by a white grey puff but
people say it smells like a desil I looked for turbo shaft play no oil in the turbo I just put new valve seals in but haven't had a chance to look at them my turbo drain is leaking a good amount and I have some oil on my down pipe but I don't think it can cause this also I have a full 3" exhaust with no cat nothing can some one help me out or at least calm me down I have been trying to figure this out for a long time and its pissn me off I have about 6k on the short block and about 400 on the head thanks.

Black smoke is definitely fuel. What do your fuel trims look like? Are you running a wideband as a simulated o2 sensor or do you have the stock o2 sensor also? Is it cycling like it is supposed to? What is your wideband reading?

And it might be a stupid question, but do you have your injectors dialed in correctly?

Ya defiantly fuel problem running rich check the spark plugs see if they are saturated in gas you may have a faulty fuel injector in the open position pouring fuel into the engine. is it hard to start at first like its flooded or does it start normal idles normal. If its not that then its into the tuning to high of fuel pressure lack of sensors to tell ecu how to change the trims to make it run smooth. Sounds interesting I will be following your updates.

well I have a 2.3 engine and rc 660cc with 43.5 fuel psi and have dead time set to 180 when I go wot my wide band says its 11 some times 10 but mostly 11 and walbaro 255 fuel pump it starts up good and normal and idles good when I take out the plugs they look good I am running a invoit w/b and stock o2 and it syclels up and down up and down pretty big but at first start it it doesn't really do it when I take off my mbc it still smokes under wot but not as bad I have it set to 20psi no boostleaks my tune is shit had it dyno tuned by late modle throttle and the guy didn't know what he was doing so I had to fix a lot of stuff my load scale is set to 87% because I have a 2.3 in my car and dsm link says that is what you need to do but even either it set at 100% it still does it

Well if your spark plugs are in good shape then your probably not to far off the air to fuel ratio that you need. Now it seems like when you go wot that the tune is giving more gas then is needed at that time then goes back to normal a little smoke is not bad I see a lot of cars that smoke some its when like you said your looking like a diesel with smoke just pouring out. So im still thinking its the way the car is tuned with the injectors and turbo. Only other thing is look for anyway your restricting air flow under load that could cause to much fuel not enough air problem. Just throwing ideas out there never really messed with the tuning like this before. Good learning experience.

well ill reflash my ecu and set my base fuel presser at 40psi to see if that works because I am running 660cc injectors and a stock dsm has 450cc and I have a hi flow fuel filter and 6an lines with a 255 wally inline pump idk ill see how it goes in the morning

What do your fuel trims look like on dsmlink? You may need to dial the injectors in a little bit or use the maf comp feature to tune out some fuel.

The dead times and global that the wiki suggests are just a base starting point. I always zero out the maf comp and then play with global and deadtimes until your airflow per rev is at .25(might be a little different with a 2.3) and your comb. Ft is right around zero. Then I drive around and use the maf comp adjust feature off of your log. Make sure ltft lo and mid are +- 5% andthen start tuning for wot

Well I lowerd my fuel psi to as low as 20 pou ds and still smokes I have some oil dripping on my down pipe but it sure does not smell like oil smells different I have 660 rc injectors and dead time is set at 180 is that right or is it wrong how do I fi d out dead time I have dsm link v3 .

Well the car was put on a dyno and tuned at late modle throttle but I am not to sure if it is tuned right.

Well oil leaks are not good so go ahead and fix that leak up. Other then your tune im lost on that kind of stuff with these cars not there yet and there has to be a fix for your problem my car has 150000 miles and doesn't smoke so theres something wrong with the fuel or maybe the design in manifold or restriction somewhere not allowing air to get to throttle body like it should and it could be in the throttle body or in the sensors who knows just gonna have to play with it some.

First thing is first fix the rain tube leak. Second you need to post a log of idle fully warmed up, air flow per rev should be roughly .27 because its a stroker. Then also include a small cruise log and a wot log. This may be easier to figure out the problem. When is the last time you calibrated your wideband? You might want to try that also.

ok I will get a log of that stuff but last time I tried to upload a log it wouldn't let me but I have a new laptop so who knows
