Hey guys, i need some help. i just finished putting in a new clutch and flywheel for my car. Took like a couple weeks since i had to rebuild my front end(hit a curb -.-") but anyways, my car does not want to start now. the battery is fully charged i believe. when i put the key into and turn it over, the dash lights comes on, headlights work but when i try to start it, nothing happens. it won't even crank. its like theirs no connection the starter. anyone have any idea on this. THANKS!!! =]

I had this one happen to me back last feburary. did you put the ground cable from the body to the tranny after the trans was installed. i had power to the dash but no crank then i remembered to put the ground on and then it fired right up. at the very least check the connections to make sure their tight especially the ground

Check ALL your grounds. Make sure you connected the start wires, Aswell. Did you adjust your clutch pedal at all (the clutch master cylinder rod under the dash)? If you twist it to much one way, The car will not even turn over, Just click.

We tried to take off the connection to the clutch so we didnt have to clutch when starting. that did not work. ill try checkin for the connection tomrorow. Thanks. =]

If what I were saying were the problem, That honestly would not matter. I had the same problem and d/c the clutch safety switch and still no start. As soon as i turned the rod "in toward the cabin" just a bit more, The car started right up. First time it ever happened to me so I did not even know to think about it. A month ago a guy I know did a 5spd swap and the car would not start. I checked the same problem, And sure enough, It then started right up.

all grounds are checked and now we are seeing if there is connection goin to the starter, i will check that rod if this does not work. But is there any other suggestions? ahh this is really bugging me LOL thanks

I don't see how this can be, if the clutch switches are bypassed.

****

OP - Do you have two switches on the clutch? (one for start, one for cruise). If so, make sure you disconnected the start switch when you tested it.

Make sure to check all your fuses.

Honestly it is most likly NOT the problem, But... When I were adjusting my clutch pedal(master cylinder rod), Being the clutch was grabbing RIGHT OFF THE FLOOR, When I made one extra turn on the rod, The car no longer even started to crank. Very weird, I know. I removed the entire safety switch etc and it still did it until I tried turning the rod the other way. I never had it happen before and I never even heard of it happening (esp since the safety switch had been d/c.)

I would check:

ALL grounds. (you already did).
all fuses
All wires (to the starter, ETC.

Basically it hasto be what ever you done during the removal/install. Is your battery charged?

Did you try to push start the car yet??
