Can someone tell me about this part.

I have wondered what this part is for a while. But my car is running great right now and don't want to mess with anything. I found this pic of it on google. It is right in front of battery under the cruise control actuator valve looking thing. On the picture it says it is a mit controller. I don't know if that is correct. I typed in about every word combo i can think of with dsm added to end but got no info. I would like to know what this is and what function it serves. Thanks.

Isn't it for the cruise control? I think it's the solinoid acuator for the cruise control. yup it's for the cruise bro, you can see it here still attacked to mine from my gvr4!

NO! It is the cruise control vacuum pump (Mitsu part MB943696). I know because I'm replacing mine right now. It has a small vacuum hose going to the cruise control actuator right above it - if you don't then your hose is missing. The pump supplies the vacuum to run the actuator which has a cable to the throttle (through the cruise control actuator link which also has the accelerator pedal cable on it).

^^ exactly what I thought too ! Both my cars are all apart and in boxs so I couldn't see. But the gvr4 cruise box is all in one from the looks. And you can clearly see that part on it in my pic! Thx
