Resolved Can someone tell me what this is?

First off, sorry for posting this in the newbie section, but I don't know where to begin the search for this. There seems to be a metal line with nothing connected to it passed the transfer case and by the driveshaft. I'm looking for a leak and it seems to been leaking for awhile judging from all the gunk. Any ideas or links to the correct thread would be great.

I know right. I notice I get a very small amount of fluid on the ground after a few days of sitting, but the underbody tells another story.

OK so it's a fuel vent valve, but is it suppose to be like that?

Maybe that's from the evap system.

I assume that your car has the emissions delete. That line is the vent for the fuel tank. It originally went to the charcoal canister. That gray piece is likely a fuel filter of some sort (or should be). The only thing coming out of that line should be fumes, not actual fuel.

You are correct sir! No emissions and it's to vent the fumes away from the engine bay. I guess my gunky leak is something else. Thanks

From the pictures, the gunk is most likely gear oil from your passenger side axle seal. Try smelling the "gunk".

It definitely smells like a gear oil. I know the car had some transfer case leaking issues, and it looks like there was a lot of black rtv smeared everywhere. I sprayed some simple green and wiped up a lot of the gunk. So hopefully I can find it while replacing the front suspension finally.
