Well, I'm thinking that this may get moved but I just wanted to let you guys know that breaking 15 is possible without too much money. I did a quick search on track talk on 420a NA info but didn't come up with anything. I know you'll appreciate this Snoop;

14.90@94.?? with a 2.0 launch.

I haven't got the numbers in my hand yet so I am not changing my timeslip info, yet. We had a crappy day at Lebanon Valley Dragway in New York on wednesday. They had lot's of problems but one of them was printing out the slips. They ended up handing them out when you came to the grandstand. But they kept giving me my 1st run (which was a 15.085). I called them today and they said of course they save that info. She gave it to me over the phone and once I heard 14 instead of 15 I ddin't get quite all the info (the reason for the ?? in my speed).

One of the clubs I'm in is running June 9th, so I'll probably pick it up then. But of course I may have lowered it by then.

Good stuff man! Congrats! Just try to post the slip when you get it. I want to check it out. :thumb:

Absolutely fantastic, Congradulations I knew you were going to break it! You know after reading this, Driggs is going to pass out ROFL

LOL! Thanks again, Chris. Yeah, IDK about Brian. He has been oddly silent while I've been running the times down. We both know that it is not in his nature ;) . But, then again, he may not read the racing section over at 2gnt.

Oh yeah, Blitz, I will definitely post as soon as I get the slip. I will probably need a little help in the picture dept. Haven't quite figured that out.

way to go guy :thumb:

I would love the day I get a 2.0 60' ...do you really think that quaife makes a huge diff?

not to be a party crasher, but you stated that they were having printing issues that day so dont you think that gaining 8 mph in the trap is alot. :confused:

Hey X, appreciate the support. I kind of feel that I should be launching 2.0 or better with drag radials and that "little" power (as compared to my FWD fp green turbo that you really have to feather out). I'm not running a quaife, but oddly enough I am dropping posi strips on my stock tranny. Go figure.

No rain, Waredtalontsi. Good question and good point. My 15.085 run was actually the anomoly. My previous runs had been in the 94 mph range (I had run a [email protected] and a [email protected] both with 2.4ish launches on a previous day). I knew I just had to get the launch down. I was actually suspicious of the 86.86 until I remembered that for some reason in that run I had some break up in the top end. Kind of like a fuel break up or timing advance.

I'm really confident that the 14.9 will not stand for long (barring any wierdo breakdown crap). The car has more in it and I feel that my good launches should be down around 1.8.

Great job man, good to hear 420a's doing good things :thumb:

But why didn't you just put it in the Track talk section, just put 420a in the title. Maybe some 4g63 owners would realize the 420a does have some potential too :p

...yeah, but how many of us actually look there LOLz ROFL

Well, I was going to put it in there but when I did a quick search I came up with pretty much nothing on the 420a NA. I kind of thought the mods might move this but I wanted to at least touch on the 420a NA guys because , as X and Chris both point out, the 420a guys don't really look at the track talk.

Just an aside here, I beat all the stocker turbo GS-T guys who were at the track so far. It is kind of fun to have them ask how my turbo install went :p .

Thats awesome, I heard the news from sony slave earlier today and just about nutted. Okay well no quite. But I was happy.

Your trap speeds are fast, and I love that, your car definately has a lot of potential.

Glad to hear from you BigRand. I don't know if I should be happy or a little weirded out, but thanks for the appreciation :p . Seriously though, you see what I see. With trap speeds like that I may be able to lower this a couple of tenths more. My 1st gear speed shifts are at 8500. Then 2nd at around 8200. I am crossing the line just over 7000. Now in third gear I won't get the power up to 8500 like in first, but obviously I still am pulling up to the finish line. The drag radials made a considerable difference in not only my launch, but also my shifts. The tire spin 1 to 2 is barely noticeable and 2 to 3 is non-existent. Barring any "weirdo" stuff (which of course can happen at any point with the DSM's:D ) I believe I'll knock this time down.

Thanks again,
MB

Well, I know the 420a NA guys may not see this (and the turbo guys may not appreciate it) But ran a new low on the car Wednesday;

[email protected] with a 2.259 launch!

There is only one faster time ever posted that I know of and that is in the 14.6's (and the car has been since parted out). I'm certain, barring any weirdo stuff that I will beat that. This is unchartered territory for this car. cool.

Absolutely AMAZING! Great job! Keep it up! I smell 10's by christmas :p haha jk on that last part.

Hey Chris, thanks for the support (BTW I'm already past 10's. I'm into the 9's now. Uh, you are talking about the 1/8 right? :p ).

Seriously, though, I really do appreciate your support. I know you're someone I can count on. That does means something.

Just for those that may do a search on 420a N/A's. I just ran my fastest time of;

[email protected]

This appears to be the fastest posted N/A time (non turbo, non sprayed). I actually beat the STOCKER turbo AWD and FWD's on the track.

Congrats on the new times. I see you are working on that 13 sec timeslip. You have picked up almost half a second. Now, some better launches and some more tuning, you might be able to get there.

Thanks 92awddsm,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It is sometimes hard for the turbo guys to understand the drive for staying NA.

Your right about the launches. One of the problems that I have is the place I run, has a notoriously bad launching pad (no, not making excuses). I have another place (New England Dragway) that is about a 45 minute extra drive. I may have to run up there to try a few launches. Plus my FWD technique is not quite there. My guesstimate for the car is 14.3's with a good launch and a couple more adjustments.

But I do believe the car has the capabilties of reaching into the 13's. unfortunately, I think that will take some heavy "lightening" (dash, heater core, etc.), an LSD and MSnS installation that I don't know if I am ready to do. This IS my DD and I really want to retain the amenities (I still have my cruise control hooked up :sneaky: ).

We'll see where the ride takes it,

Having owned a 95 GS before buying my GSX, I have to say that I'm most impressed. What brings is a smile to my face is that you were beating stock turbo cars on the way to making great numbers. I can't imagine what she'd so with a 60' of 1.8 or so. I really feel that slicks and an LSD could get you there and you'd likely see 14.20's out of that change alone. Nevertheless, a 2.0 running one wheel drive is exceptional.

Well done and keep knocking it down out there. I know that if I ever saw your car, I'd certainly give it tons of respect!

Andy

Thanks guys,

Just a note here, Andy (yeah, one wheel drive :p ), my car, for some reason was doing posi strips with my 18's for a while. Don't know why (didn't really care as long as it did it). But now with all the launching, it appears to be on one wheel drive again (though I did the 14.597 on one wheel). I am looking into lsd's right now. I'll probably run one more time without it after I make some adjustments.

Was going to hit the SO but with the new FMIC rules, I wouldn't stand a chance. I can cut a pretty mean light, but I would have to leave about 3 seconds early to have a chance :sneaky:

I appreciate the encouragement,

Matt, I thought I read a thread on 2gnt.com where you said you ordered an OBX LSD and it was junk so you ordered a Quafe? Maybe it wasn't you, or maybe something happened that I missed. Either way, great job man!

Hey Chris,

Maybe Matt wanted an OBX but "MARK" doesn't ;). Plus, I wouldn't have the cash for a Quaife. I'm leaning toward the retrofit right now. Looks to be the best proven option.

But, as always, I appreciate your support, Carl....er.....Chris J/K :p .
