hey guys.. Im ordering up a new wheel/tire combo for next year. Previous tire setup was a set of enkei wheels they are 15x7 40+ and I ran 235/60/15 MT ET street radials on them.. Wheels were about 16lbs ea/ tires 27lbs ea/ it was a very heavy setup with not much sidewall flex and was hard on my car.

Im going to go with the qtp setup for next eason. Ive just got a few questions about tire size.

Why do most guys go with 16" QTP's in the same height/width as the QTP's in the 15"? Is it just simply because its easier to find 16" wheels in the proper size rather then 15s? Or am I missing something? Wouldn't a 15 be better then a 16 due to more sidewall flex?

Here is the 2 sizes im talking about.

26x9.5x15 vs 26x9.5x16

same hight (26.1") however, the 15" section width' is 9.9" vs the 9.3" with the 16" that is the only difference.

So guys, why does everyone favor 16" QTP's instead of 15" QTP's? Is it just a wheel selection thing? (I do agree 15" wheels are hard to find in the proper size needed to run these tires)

Thanks!

Gearing may be a factor.

The height of both tires are the same though. If that is what you were getting at...

I went with the 16's just because I already had rims that would fit them. I do know that with the dual piston calipers my 16's fit just perfect I am not sure how close a 15" rim would fit. If you are going to drive with them on the street I would rather have the 16's due to a slightly smaller profile tire.

The 15s clear the dual piston calipers up front no prob. Well atleast my enkei wheels fit (15s) without problems so I would imagine slipstreams will too. I ordered 15" slipstreams and will be using 15" QTPs I was just wondering why more guys stick to 16s. I do have the wheels that are currently on the car which get good enough traction on the street.
