Breaking up at WOT

It seems to be breaking up really bad going WOT. Just wot, normal driving is fine. I had my stock boost guage turned into a knock guage and knock goes way up when it breaks up. I just changed to plugs and it still does it. I have no boost leaks at all. Tomm I will put in my bros ngk wires and see if that helps. But any other ideas as to what it can be? And im curious, would breaking up cause knock?

Do you have a wideband? Sounds like rich misfire, or spark blowout. Could be a few other things as well, we all know that only the rarest issues show up on your car.

I had the same exact problem, without the knock. Im assuming its not just a tank of gas...it has to do with either fuel or spark. Clean your injectors, change fuel filters, wires and make sure your coils are in good shape.

Im running bpr7es plugs. And I have a wideband just not hooked up yet . Im pretty sure its not running rich. I have a chip for my 880's and fuel pressure is set to 43psi. I did just get a fuel filter in the mail and will try that out. Thanks

What are your plugs gapped at? If it is too wide, you will get spark blow out.

Also, once you change your wires, make sure that there are no oil leaks by the spark plug wells. If there is oil in the well(s), it can sometimes make the spark short to the head, therefore negating any firing in that cylinder.

I suggest that you switch to 6ESs, as it does not seem your profile mods warrant 7ESs.

Im running around 22psi on the 16g. You think the 6es plugs will be okk?

I'd go with 7's based on your boost. And you might need to use a slightly smaller gap (.024-.026), but you can experiment to see what works.

I bet 5 dollars it is your wires... I was breaking up and i had no clue what it was.. I couldn't hit 18psi or it would miss. I switched to a COP setup and im pushing 20 psi on a holset and i was pushing 25psi on my 16g.. Get some accels. relatively cheap and good quality
