BPR7ES NGK Spark Plugs Discontinued???

So i went to my local Advance Auto Parts store yesterday to order a set of NGK BPR7ES plugs. When they looked them up the only NGK plugs for my talon was the BPR6ES. So i asked to see if i could get the 7's. After a few minutes of them computer searching on there computers. The guy comes back and tells me that they have discontinued the BPR7ES plugs. :confused: Has anyone lese had this issue? Or heard of such news? I think i had a couple dumb***'s sworking last night what do you guys think/ know? Any help would be apperciated. :)

I was about to say they cant be. I just ordered a set last Friday in my shop.

So you went to Advance to order these i assume? :)

I always ask by name... never have a problem. But yeah, use the part number for the specific store, works wonders

Yes, I just bought 4 7's using that number and a set of 8's from Advance a week ago. They'll tell you that they aren't for your car but just hold your breath and smile at them.

This is true, I also got into a very dumb back and forth when I mentioned the o2 housing on my car to someone. He kept saying nice headers. Or something, I just shook my head.
 
They're definitely not discontinued. You must have not had the brightest bulb for a counter guy that day. Try again at a different parts store.

haha Thanks. I agree they looked like they werent the two sharpest tools in the shed. ROFL Thanks for editing the thread topic. And yeah paul i think im going to have to go to napa. Or somewhere else.
 
Always check what they give you. My local Advance herp-derp (I know they're not all like this, it's always this one guy) took about 10 minutes looking, finally came back all "FOUND THEM!!!!!!" and what-not.

I get home, and find out I got BP7ES.

Agreed. I switched from BPR7ES to BR6ES. My motor seems to like them. Resolved the occasional misfire and just seems to run smoother. If anyone is interested the p/n for the BR6ES is 4922 (please note this is the hotter "6" plug).

No, I really do mean BP7ES. It was written on the box, and I went and did a lot of research about running non-resistor type plugs and decided to give it a shot.

But now you just made me want to go and buy new plugs.. I did some research and I get some bad spark blowout. I'm going to consider it.
 
If you dont mind me asking paul, but why do you prefer the non produding tip as opposed to the other? I beleve that what the p stands for. I have always ran the bpr's never the br.

I too would like to know what your reasoning is on running theses plugs. I too may switch to a non-p plug myself. :hellyeah: Or do you have to be running really high amounts of boost for these plugs to function properly? :pray:

Basically for the same reason listed in the link in Romeen's post above.

It helps combat spark blowout at high boost pressures. I switched to non-P plugs and a much tighter gap shortly after compounding and it (along with an ARC-2) helped greatly.
 
They are not discontinued i work at a family owned parts store and we get this all the time because advance and auto zone emps can not find it if it dont come up on there computer.

Oh i see. I have heard good things and bad things from both. I am running about 20 psi of boost on a evo 3 16g and i and running the bpr7es gapped at .020. Would the non p make any difference is the performance or running of my car? I havent experienced any blowout, just a misfire before i got tuned, but now it doesnt do it.

Keep running what you have if it's working for you. I ran the BPR7ES plug up until I had the blowout issue. My car would sputter and miss badly at about 7K at 40+ PSI boost. And the non-P plug helped fix that.
