I am looking the NGK BPR7ES spark plugs that are sold from dsmparts.com. Will these spark plugs come already correctly gapped or will I need to gap them? Anyone have experience getting these spark plugs from them already and know?

No, I have only seen them from a poster behind the counter at the parts store. If that's the case and they can't actually be gapped, then that's the main reason they would never go on my car.

I don't believe anyone could convince me that with the way items are shipped and "man-handled" that a plug electrode will NOT eventually get "knocked out of whack". Therefore I will always double check the gaps before plugs go in.

If you guys are referring to NGK BPR6EKN or similar style plugs (which utilize two ground electrodes at opposing sides of the center electrode), then I believe these can be gapped if you use a wire gap gauge (not a disc gauge). Its a bit of a pain, but can be done. For this style of plug, you have two separate gaps that both have to be "gapped" properly. The wire gauge is slipped-in from the side between one of the ground electrodes and the center electrode. This ground electrode is then bent toward/away from the center electrode to achieve the desired gap. Then this process is repeated to set the gap between the second ground electrode and the center electrode. Some time ago, I had gapped and installed a set of these plugs on my car. This style of spark plug is not very popular, but I just thought I would provide this info in case anyone was interested.

SOOTH! The guy at checker told me to gap em at .05, thats a tad too much IMO.

The computer at Checker says to gap plugs to .032" for normal copper spark plugs. The sticker under my hood from Mitsubishi says ".028-.031". Next time I go into work, I'll check the computer and see where that .05" comes from. I do remember seeing one weird gap for, I want to say it was for an iridium plug but I only just glanced at it, either .004" or .04" for a vehicle application. I'll try to check it again on Thursday and get back to you.

wret, the FAQ you linked to currently doesn't have most of the pictures working in it. The site I host them at is currently down and should be up again soon.

I installed some yesterday and they all came out of the box gapped around .32-.35. Needless to say they were not gapped correctly out of the box.

i got my plugs at the local parts store and gapped at .030. all together with the gapper came to be less than $13 bucks. Much better than the 20 i would pay to get them from dsmparts.com LOL
