so i recently got a little bit of water in my engine but i cleared it all out. this happend maby 3 weeks ago. it smoked alot for two or three days after getting the water out (figured it was just steem). but anyway after those 2 or 3 days it stoped smoking. and the car ran great like nothing happened to it. it ran fine for a good week and a half or so. then out of the blue it started smokeing again. this time i could tell its oil burning. first i thought it was a head gasket but its perfectly fine (havnt had any type of over heating issues for the past 2 weeks. but i notice the smoke only comes when the turbo starts to spool up alittle. anything over maby 5 psi is when it will start to smoke alittle and it happends most the time after i spool and let off the gas is when it will start to smoke. im takeing a guess maby its the gasket for the return line to the turbo? does that sound right? i am a newbie so please anything would help. my guess is the gasket for the oil return line. but what do you guys think? car runs great and only smokes after 5psi or so after i let off the gas alittle.

by the way my turbo is a evo3 16g. less then two years old. so im positive its not time for a new turbo considering mine is still pritty new. and i never beat on the car considering its my DD. only at the track

My car is doing the same thing. Take off your intake pipes, and see if there is oil in them. If there is, then your turbo seals are probaly shot.

Have you checked for shaft play?

Do this. Take your intake pipe off, and check it for shaft play. Grab the nut and pull it up and down, then push/pull it in and out. A little up and down is normal for a used turbo, but a drastic amount of up and down, or a good amount of in and out then your turbo is shot. From there you can check your intercooler piping for oil, if there's a lot of it, then it IS time for a new turbo or a turbo rebuild.

yup i check. and there is a lot of milky havy oil in all the tubes. so im guessing its the turbo seals. i checked for shaft play and everything felt normal (turbo is less then 2 years old its a 16g). was that your problem too?

I would pull all the tube and the intercooler out and thoroughly clean them out with a detergent. How far did the water get?

lets just say i basicily hydro lock the car. the front mount intercooler was filled, all the pips, turbo had a puddle of warter. when i got it to crank over after 30 minutes i shot a good gallon of water out the exhaust. so lets just say it was alot of water, im just happy it was the turbo and not the engine. but the turbo has no shaft play in it at all. runs good just smokes anytime i go over lets say 5 psi and let off the gas
