I have a 97 eclipse gsx all stock except punishment racing o2 housing and 3 in downpipe (no cat) and thermal r&d catback. What is the best turbo manifold I can get that will bolt on to the stock turbo (t25). Also it is for autocross.

Well, the FP Race manifold is a favorite among the DSM community. It has a solid proven reputation for performance and quality. You do have a couple of draw-backs though.

  • You will need a bolt kit as two of the turbo-manifold bolts are shorter. (not a big deal) $40-60
  • You will not be able to use the stock heat shielding. Because of this, you will need to find an alternative.
    • SS heat shield (absurdly expensive) $150
      • You must be logged in to view this image or video.
    • Ceramic coating and/or manifold blanket/wrap. $110 excluding ceramic coating ($120 from FP)

Personally, after adding all of the other costs, saving for your next turbo sounds more appealing. If there is nothing wrong with your current one, I would not waste the money at this time.

Stainless BEP Manifold with 38mm wastegate provision. Crack that,LOL....

Evo III manifold, ported+polished will suit your needs. Search eBay for a new unit, approx 200 bucks.

It not cracked just looking for a little more power.

Do you know if this works with the stock turbo with just the bolt kit?

It will be a bolt-on affair still using a t-25.

Forced Performance charges $60 for the bolt kit, and it comes with four new bolts and eight new spring washers. You can save a little by ordering individual pieces from Extreme PSI
Evo short turbo/manifold bolts (2) part # MN119783, $17
DSM long turbo/manifold bolts (2) part # MR187699, $10
OEM Spring washers (8) part # MR187848, $18
$45 total. One of those kits you want to add to a bigger order to make shipping worth it.

If you're going to be with the T25 turbo for a while, leave the manifold alone and save/spend money on more important things. Once you go with a bigger turbo, look at the Forced Performance manifold. And like it was previously mentioned, you REALLY should budget for a heat shield, blanket, or thermal wrap solution unless you like the smell of melting rubber/plastic, and occasionally putting out engine bay fires.

I dunno about heat shields... I ran without one on my stock turbo for a long time with no I'll effects. Still dont run with heat shields or blankets. Had a blanket once for a little while.. Didn't really notice a difference.. So in regards to engine fired and such... I call BS

When you go put your bolts on, go get yourself some nickel anti-seize, not the copper crap. The nickel stuff is amazing. Never broken a bolt using it even with 10.9 bolts from the local hardware store.

Run the car for a bit and drive it around and take the bolts of while it's still hot and it should be pain free.
But seriously go get some nickel anti-seize. Stuffs a lifesaver. I just use the permatex brand it was like $7.

I am limited to intake (to the turbo) and everything exhaust for performance stuff thats why im getting the turbo mani. If you had unlimited money would you guys still buy the FP mani and heat shield?

Being that you are limited to classing rules for autocross, I would recommend going to an EVOIII exhaust manifold so that the stock heat shielding can still be used. It would also be a fraction of the investment with some degree of improvement over the stock manifold so that funds could be better utilized in suspension, tires, and brakes. These areas will benefit you most as it seems you are in a ST or prepared class since you cannot modify the turbo. It's your car though, just sharing my opinion.

The major win for the Evo Exh Manifold is the fact that it has a 7cm outlet. If you still on stock turbo keep the stock manifold. No need in risking the broken bolts just to swap to a manifold that wont do nothing for you.

If you doing AutoX and want quick spool you need to make the distance between the exhaust valves and the turbine wheel as short as possible (log or stock manifold)

Personally I dont or didnt get one ... but my buddy has / had one and he replaced it for the blanket as showed above from 2gmitsueclipse ..... it wasnt a horrible piece but his did rattle a little and he is "real" OCD the kind that turns the knob 3 times and all that ....LOL. It drove him crazy being it was all random and what not, the blanket is really a great piece, works well with all mani's but you may not be able to use with Rules and such for AutoX .... but if you can I would grab one for sure .....

I got an fp just recently with the manifold blanket (gstwithpsi gave me the heads up on blanket) ran the car at idle for 10min and I am really impressed with the blanket, could put my hand right on the blanket. It wasn't even hot enough to worry about a burn or even uncomfortably hot.
Just wanted to give some experience with it.

The stock 2g manifold is the best manifold you can use on the t25 and smaller turbos.

The fp units are larger and do cause an increase in boost lag, and have shown a decrease in horse power on the Dyno. If yours cracked fp is the best option for replacement

A new manifold isn't going to give you any extra horse power. The only reason you would want a new manifold is to run an externally mounted waste gate

Really? I noticed a huge difference after I installed my manifold blanket. I'd highly recommend one. After seeing how mine has performed over the last year or so, I actually prefer them over heat shields now.

I guess i never had a back to back compirison. But with stock manifold didn't notice anything bad going on with no shields. Since then ive been tubular manifold and no heat shields nothin wrong. Just my experience LOL

ok so let me get this straight, Should i just stay with the stock manifold? If you had the stock turbo would you put in the FP mani if it were free and your stock one is in perfect condition? If i stay with the stock manifold would porting do any good?

This is starting to feel like beating a dead horse......OP it is your car. You asked for opinions and received them. You seem dead set on getting an FP manifold. If you feel this is where your money (or free part what ifs..) are best spent, then go for it.
