Hey fellas, i've been pondering this topic in my head for the last week, if lag wasn't the issue, I mean with the 2.3 stroker it would be less of an issue, only top end mattered (for drag races at long deserted sreets at night), wha tturbo would be the best?

FPRED
FP3065
GT35R

?

 thanks

well the FP3065 and GT35R are pretty much the same turbo. The FPred is just a 60-1 trim so it is the slowest of the bunch. If i had to choose it would be the FP3065 because i have seen the FP3065 in action on a drag strip. You might also want to look at the flavor of the month the Holset Turbo from Bullseye :dsm:

Maybe I'm a little confused...

Your title says "Best Street-able Turbo", yet your question doesn't match.

Me too, and I would say the FP3065 from all the threads, etc. I have read. Allthough, it would be more cost effective to get a GT35r.

Sorry to confuse you, I just want to know what would be best out of the 3?

Well I'm plannin a HX-35/40 swap personally. Dont have a lot to compare to yet tho :p

when you get it going post some reasults ok?

i think the 3065 or the gt35r are the most powerful "streetable" turbos out there....im kinda partial to my gt35r.....lag's not too bad and top end is amazing

I'm not quite sure how a GT35R is more cost effective than a 3065, it's normally $1500 on it's own retail. Then add in the exhaust manifold you'll need. It's going to cost more.

Da Dymer around what rpm do you get full boost? I was considering the 1.06a/r, but went for the .82 instead. My GT35R should be here at the beginning of next month, I can't wait to get it on :thumb:

The FP3065 and the GT35R basically share the same CHRA. However, a true GT35R with a Garrett hot side will outflow a 3065 by a good margin. FP3065 turbine housing only has a .70 a/r. Put a .82 or 1.06 a/r on the GT35R and it really shines on the top end. However, it wouldn't be a very friendly 'street" turbo. As for daily driver, spool up, and good top end, it's hard to beat the FP3065. It bolts right up, it's Ball bearing, and on a 2.3/2.4L stroker, it will spool up quick!

on my gt35r 1.06 a/r......we were reaching full boost (31psi at the time.....35+psi on the way :shhh: ) at around 4600rpm but with no timing. We made something around 460ish whp. Then we started playing with the timing (+16 deg. btdc) and whp skyrocketed to 552.3.....but boost didnt come on until the upper 5k rpm range.....so you gotta ask yourself the question..would you sacrifice another 100whp for an extra 1000rpm of lag..i did. As soon as I get my new spring for the wastegate we are going to try 35psi and more timing, hopefully hitting the almighty 650whp mark.......by the way how much timing are you guys running at high boost????

P.S..........the car is for sale in the classifieds.....check it out :thumb:

I would say none of these turbo are "Streetable" by the liberalist of definitions.

However a 7cm2 turbine housing on an "FP RED" (any old 60-1 t3t/4 hybrid) will spool at around 4000-4500 rpm, thus making the most "streetable" out of the 3 turbos.

RED's are well known for making 550WHP average.

This is perfect application for a standalone system. Boost based timing. Use decent advance around town at part throttle operation. When ECU sees 100% TPS, retard timing until MAP sees boost coming in and then dial in some advance. Bingo! Huge turbo, decent mid-4K spool and big HP numbers.

That is interesting that "retarding" timing (or lack of advance) helps the boost threshhold that much. Hence how well anti-lag systems work--similar methodology.

This is the best streetable engine by far. But for real i think the Green might be good. It is plenty capable and very very very reliable.

All of those turbo's are streetable, unless ur speed racer joe racing hondas from light to light.

But hes looking for the most streetable from the 3.....

you can get bolt on gt35r's for 1300 bucks. mitsu exhuast housing and internal gated :thumb:

That's a -14 cartridge, not a full GT35R, turbine wheel is the 8mm smaller GT30 unit.

That's interesting that timing made such a huge impact by itself, that's with no a/f change? It looks like I'll spend some time playing with my timing maps soon. I had always had timing decrease linearly with boost, looks like I run a bit less timing at low boost if it has that large of an affect.
I haven't run the 2.4 over 20lbs yet do to some boost control problems, so I'm no help there.
