Edmonton,
Hey guys, well i just dynoed my car, and my clutch is toast, i so picked up a CFDF, I will also be replacing my flywheel when doing the clutch. I did some reading but couldnt find exaxclty what i was looking for. I am leaning towards fidanza, but i am concerned about the revs rising or dropping ot low while daily city driving. Who has experience with an aftermarket flywheel and whats your opinion? Thanks.

Great choice on the clutch, you should be really happy with it :thumb: Just make sure you follow the break in procedure, no boost for the first 500 miles. As for the flywheels, with the aluminum ones some have stalling issues while others get away without this issue. If you have something such as DSMLink you can use it to raise your idle RPM. For a street car I would recommend the XACT streetlight flywheel. I run one of these and think their great. No real noticeable driveability issues but is a nice reduction in weight from the factory 18 lbs down to 12 lbs (as a reference aluminum ones are usually 7-8 lbs). So it free revs quicker and your rpms drop slightly lower in between shifts to give you a slightly larger powerband. I run it with the CFDF clutch & think its a great combo & would defently recommend it/run it again.

yes, i definetely want to stay away from stalling as much as possible, although i do have dsmlink. I guess its more homework for me now.. haha.

SBR recommends the X-ACT Flywheel with the Centerforce Dual Friction. Plus I had a Fidanza and a couple teeth broke on the flywheel. Really pissed my off, its not easy just taking the whole tranny off plus I now have to buy a new flywheel.

X-ACT is a great flywheel for the CFDF clutch. I would highly recommend it.

X-ACT streetlite. It's a quality piece. Its stronger than stock and not TOO light.

What about just sticking with the stock one? Any opinions on that?

I only got a lighter flywheel because I needed a 6 bolt flywheel for my 6 bolt swap. Otherwise I would have stuck with the stock flywheel. Its really not worth the money unless you need to replace yours. It doesn't really free up much power especially due to the gearing in these cars. First gear is done in about a second anyways...

I just installed my fidanza flywheel and act 2600 a couple of weeks ago. I love my fidanza flywheel. Your revs will drop and rise alot faster with this flywheel. My car never stalled once and it never dropped below 900 rpms when comming to a stop. My car is a daily driver and I do not know why people say light flywheels make them unstreetable. Dude get the fidanza flywheel, you will regret it if you dont. You will love the throttle response. I got mine from ultra rev on ebay for like $160. If your going to get your flywheel turned that usually cost $75, why not spend like $100 more.:thumb:

I don;t see why you have to buy a new flywheel since the teeth are replacable with a fidanza.

I have a fidanza and dont have any complaints driving didnt seem much different for me cant say i noticed a difference but i also put a new turbo on at the time of the flywheel install. Dont know if its worth the money but It works for me.

I have a fidanza as well, and have no real complaints or stalling issues. People told me when I was considering buying one that the money is better spent elsewhere, and I'd probably agree as it was one of my first mods (since I needed a new clutch, I just got a light flywheel). The only difference I saw was how fast the car revs in neutral and how fast it drops when changing gears. I like how quick it revs, but I don't know if it is justified for the price.

I bought mine with a fidanza in it (and yes, I KNOW b/c I've since replaced the clutch and flywheel- another fidanza) Even before I got DSMLink, I had NO problems with stalling out or anything like it.

If you've got DSMLink, you shouldn't even worry about it. Even IF you have an issue with stalling, which few people have in comparison to those without, you'll be able to adjust your idle. I love mine. You might as well do it. Hell, if you want, I'll sell you my old one for pretty cheap, and you can just get a new friction surface from ultrarev for $45. This isn't the classified, so I won't post more about that here, but PM me if you're interested.

Wait, you're in Canada, that's far, maybe you should just buy a new one. Even if I sold it cheap, the shipping would be stupid. Anyway, get one! And when you do, go re-dyno, and let us know if there is actually any gain from weight savings. I know it'd be small, but I'm still curious.

Had an 8-lb fidanza on my 94 AWD b16g. LOVED it! Had some low idle issues at first but the ECU "learned" the flywheel and it went away. With DSMLink, no consideration of idle.
