I say Yeah You can't go wrong with a TAIL, But like anything you can get something that works just as Good that isn't name brand.

I say the best one is The One that Works for your Needs...Their pretty simple things and Diaphragms can tear whether it's Brand name or not.

Haha no thanks man an the manifold im looking at isnt v-band. Also, tial, tried and tested with good results, within my price range and not broken out the box. Emusa cheaper yes, but i have to fix it before i can put in on. You can get more wgs for less but A) you get what you pay for B)quality over quanitity. Im not saying that your wrong or trying to start an arguement, i appreciate your input on another option, and honestly if it was broke out the box it would be worth a look into, BUT from what you said about emusa wgs its just not worth it.

Somethings you dont go cheap on imo, if this $50 (or however much it is) wg fails and ends up destroying my $1500 turbo which then sucks chunks into the combustion chamber and ruins my $XXXX motor..ill be a bit more than upset.

Why do you HONESTLY think somethings cost more than others? Carls jr more expensive than McDs. You can get six or seven dollars burgers for one carls burger. Imo id take carls over McDs everyday hands down, they just taste better, and eventhough they both fill me up ill be more satisfied with a carls jr

I actually use the Emusa one as well. Holds 30psi on a hx40 great for about 6 months now, and recently took it apart to check everything out. Everything internally seems to still be holding up just fine.

At the time I was on a tight budget, but if you have the money I would say go with the tial.

Same goes for me I've been running a $50 wastegate (just like one I posted a link to above) for several years with out a single problem... not that the amount of boost is really relevant but it holds 25-30 psi or what ever I set the boost at perfectly... .I was on a budge at the time and Had other things left to buy an didn't feel like spending an extra $200 on a part I didn't have to...

People just need to use common sense when buying things like this It's not like any ol' "ebay" wastegate from any Seller is going to work perfect if it looks to be a poor design and the seller has 68% feedback... . it's probably a POS and not going to work right. Just like anything else just because it's on Ebay doesn't automatically make it garbage.

i could care less if my wastegate sticks shut. my ECU protects my engine, not my wastegate.

it seems really foolish to trust your engine to a wastegate, period. That is what your engine management is for. Are there really that many people out there running around with no form of overboost protection outside of a silly piece of silicone impregnated piece of nomex?

i too almost fell on the "EMUSA" bandwagon.. but lucked out and found a slightly used turbonetics evolution 38mm gate for $100. and picked it up! havent ran it yet, but have no doubt that it will suit my needs. happy boostin!

HKS, Tial, Synapse, and Turbosmart all make good gates. Boost creep is not usually the gates fault directly it's more of the size of the gate chosen in relation to the boost you will run which is only relative to engine displacement, turbo design, turbo size, etc. Higher boost levels can use smaller gates where lower boost levels require larger gates.
Not all wastegates are created equal. After design and size I look at reliability. The valve & guide are the main thing. Is it going to last the test time or will the valve start to hang up in few thousand valve cycles.
You should choose a gate that you know works instead of one based on price as it can take only one error/failure to damage something. Not worth the risk to buy a ebay /knock off wastegate!

Yup mine seems to still be going strong. And honestly for $50 bucks I never thought it would last this long. It was going to be a temporary thing, but it has definitely payed for itself already.

Honestly I wouldn't mind buying another one if I needed one.

I'll probably get flamed, but I bought this one from Boombop for about $60 total:

38MM Universal External Turbo Wastegate V-Band Top WG R

It's been working just fine so far (after dropping a bigger Tial spring in it). At the very least, these guys were great to work with and had very good customer service.

We'll see how it holds up after the turbo goes back on and I log more miles, but it seems to have good build quality.

I currently have a tial knockoff 44mm waste gate with authentic tial springs. No issues for 5k miles and counting. Also on my old setup, I had a knockoff 38mm with authentic tial springs, and ran that for 25k+ miles with no issues. I know I am supporting the knockoff's rather than the authentic's, however for a 4th of the price basically, you can't beat them.
