i dont believe it would be that hard. find an awd car, drop the whole rear subframe, 4subframe bolts, driveshaft, t-case, and trans, and e-brake cables
 
Make sure you have a donor car, as you will also need the gas tank & sending units harness, and supports off the floor pan for the driveshaft carrier bearings and other particular bits.

Without a donor car piecing it together will be a challenge.

Remember to match the rear axle assy. 5 speeds have a 3.54 final ratio and automatics have 3.30 ratio these should be marked on the tag on the rear diff cover. You cannot put an auto rear awd assy in with a 5 speed transaxle, as above the final drive ratios will not match. 5 spd/5spd or auto/auto.
