K i just recently picked up a awd 1g Talon from a buddy for really cheap. i have a engine and everything to get the beast running again but the awd tranny and the transfercase. i have searched everywhere and no luck finding both, so i was thinking about switching from awd to fwd is that possible?

any info will help

Look on here in the market place, on ebay, and even call junk yards. You will find them. Its not hard at all.

Check on Craigslist - I see AWD parts on there all the time. Call some junkyards - look on car-part.com. You can convert it, but you're going to ruin the resale value of your vehicle, as well as get rid of one of its best features.

Yes, it is possible if you want to do it. Easiest way to go FWD would be a fwd trans and flywheel. Most everything else should be self explanitory, I know the front and rear motor mounts are a little different but you can probably stick with what's in there now. The clutch is the same for all turbo 90-99. As for the rearend you could leave it there and just disconnect the driveshaft, or find a complete FWD rear subframe to swap. What you should do it leave all that ish alone and find an AWD trans and xfer case. eBay should have a couple, may have to look for a couple weeks but they pop up from time to time. Make sure if you buy seperately that you know how many splines each has. The 90 Trans and xfer case are 22 spline, the 91-94 are 23 spline and they are NOT interchangeable.

great thanks guys ya i do want to keep the awd but im in kinda a deadline to get the car done. but can i for sure just undo the driveshaft and run it that way without any damage being done to the axel?

No, or at least you can't on any other awd vehicles I have worked on or seen.

ok thats what i thought im no rookie. but i will probably do the swap for the time being and just hold on to my axels and parts like that. thanks everyone for your help!

Just to let you know you can run awd front axles with a fwd tranny so you dont need axles.
