FWD to AWD

would it work and how hard would it be to switch out the AWD out of a 91 talon to my 92 GST???

If you look hard enough you'll will find some great write ups on this very topic. You may need to Google it.

I will tell you this, It can be done, but if I were you I'd be thinking more along the lines of swapping your mods/body/engine to the AWD. Thats what I'd do.

There's a lot of work to be done if you really want to give it a go, and not to be rude, but if your asking if its hard; you don't have the tools or the experience to get it done. There's a lot of cutting and fabbing of parts to pull it off. Just take a long look at your Haynes repair manual at the side by side pictures of the under side of the two cars. The gas tank, rear end, floor board, tyranny, exhaust, just to list a few.

With the cost of our car getting cheaper every day, you should be able to find the right downer car at a fraction of the cost of a project like that.


Don't let me stop you though if its some thing your really want! Who am I tell you what you should do. I don't have half the skills some of you guys do, I'm sure!

Anything can be done with enough money and time put into it. Which of these things is actually worth it is another question, and this swap is certainly not worth it. Like previously stated, there is a lot of cutting and welding to do, without being sure that everything is going to line up. This can cause permanent alignment issues. If you want AWD, buy an AWD and mod it. If it were 2g, it would definitely be a different story.
