So I think I could get a good deal on a 95 GSX with 144k Miles and it has a transmission problem... So I figured hey swap or rebuild the tranny and I score a pretty good deal... just one thing... Its an automatic and i love manuals... How hard is this swap?

The swap is very time consuming but, with the right tools it is not that hard. The hardest part is getting the pedal assemblies switched. Here is a link on the process. This guide is for a FWD but the only difference is disconnecting the drive shaft, you also need to have the a compatible transfer case. I have done it personally so if you have any questions I would be happy to answer.

Will that still work the same way as this is a 2G AWD?

There's been a few threads about the auto->manual swap, and from what I've read, the biggest hurdles seem to be the pedal assembly and the wiring, mostly the break lights. Search for "auto manual swap" or something like that, should find a bunch of stuff to help you out. Good luck!

That write-up is sub-par. There are good bit of info, but they leave out a number of tid bits.

I did the A/T to M/T swap on my 2g and it wasn't bad, just need time and the right tools.

Here's my blog detailing the steps I took in the swap. I think my blog with the link above should give you enough info to get through a swap of your own successfully.
