awd auto trans apart

I've got a 92 trans that is apart, with the center diff out, the shaft that the diff goes onto, slides in and out quite a bit. I just want to know if there is something wrong before I continue assembling the trans

I can't really tell from that picture which shaft it is..

The output shaft on an auto transmission just utilizes a circlip to retain itself in the center diff and a slightly amount of in and out play is normal.
