hi i am looking into getting a 1995 talon awd the cars a great price and in good shape only problem is its automatic. would it be worth it to do the swap? and how much labor is involved?

I would do some research on automatics, I have one and love it there pretty tuff. Depends what you want to do with the car too, but if a 5 speed you want it would be easier just to get one with a 5 speed, and save the headache.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here dude,
All the mounting holes(for everything) are already in the car, the only fab work to be done is the clutch master cyl. hole needs to be cut into the firewall. and even that is already stamped. I say go for it man! I got my a/t to m/t swap done in a solid weekend.:thumb:

thats what i was thinking and i guess it being awd makes it more of a headache but i would still be up to giving it a try. does anyone know what exactly it would take to change it apart from the tranny itself?

Oh its totally do able, but depending on your situation gathering all part's, finding the time to do it and spending money on the swap could just be easy had to find a car with a 5 speed or really checking out the potential of a automatic.Fair analogy?

yeah its fair and thanks everyone for the helpfull suggestions im new to the forum and looking forward to getting a dsm soon :)

Well it depends what you are guna use the car for and what you like to drive. I find manuels fun to drive, they give you more control of the vehicle, and i like them better personally.Automatics are easy to drive, especialy whne your tierd, trust me i have a 5 speed and it sucks when your tiered and have to drive. Also remember not anyone can drive a stick they have to learn first, you dont want someone learning on your car trust me they will probobly burn up your clutch and if done enough times will ruin it.Its not to bad to change over in my personal opintion but, the queston is will this car be on the track?A manuel trans mission will give you higher speeds but an automatic will give you faster times. An automatic transmission in the same car will win in the 1/4 mile.I dont mind crystlers trans. there easy to fixand work on, almost 99% of the time a auto. trans fails its due to the clutchs inside, the planatery gear sets rearly and i mean rearly failand ifthatsthe caseyou cantell imean you can hear it feel it trust me you will know.Clutches in an auto trans. are easy to replace and you can usually add more clutches to give you more clamping force.Ican go on forever bur what it comes down to is what you like and what your guna use the car for and if you canaffored it adn are willing to put the time and effort into it.Either way hope it all goes will and turns out for ya brother.
