Automatic to a Manual????

How hard would it be to change an automatic transmission to a manual. (1G) I would be able to use any parts from a manual fwd. The things is I can get a awd chasis but it is auto. Soooo would it be worth it to get it. I would probably rebuild or buy a new race transmission for it anyway. Does anyone know it it would be worth it to do?

I would just look for a manual to start with. Much less of a headache

The thing with getting a awd chassis is that that when u get a tranny you will have to make sure u can hook a transfer case up to it. Other then that a manual swap wouldnt be that difficult you would have to get a master and slave cylinder and run your clutch pedal and lines and then run your shifting cables.

So if i had the lines and pedals from the fwd, and got a manual awd trans from tre that would fit, all i would have to do is swap lines and put the new tranny in, the dillema is whether i want to spend $1100 for a lsd or $400 for a awd chasis that is the same year as my talon 92, i am building a motor that will handle like 800hp with pauter rods je pistons and steel billet main caps plus the extra machining to the crank so with the right turbo, it will be nasty. So should i try to build a fwd monster or go awd? I have to decide soon because the motor is going to be done soon. Any suggestions would be great and also if it would be worth it to do.

its going to be hell making your fwd an awd. I would just throw a fwd tranny in it and make yourself a fwd monster.
