Are Turbo vs N/A internals of a stock 6 bolt the same?

Ive got a short question.

Are the internals of a 4G63 N/A the same as an 4G63T?
(oil sprayers for the cylinders and stuff?)
For rebuilding purposes.


More explanation why:

I'm driving a 1G Laser Turbo.
Done 125.000 miles.
Now, i can maintain it part by part as I am doing now. Nut the further I get the more oil leaks and stuff I come across and the more things I want to be done to it.

But its is my daily driver. I can borrow my boyfriends car some days but not for log.

So if I need to rebuild the bottom part in some time due to failure of some sort or anything else i cant really miss it for a long time. (shipment overseas to Europe)

So instead of rebuilding my own of buying a other turbo engine (hard to find in Europe), I wounded if I could buy an N/A and rebuild that.

When done i can pull my engine put the turbo and other mods on that and put the rebuild back in.
 
A quick google search could answer this question for you, but here goes. The block is the same minus the holes for the oil squirters. Everything else other than the pistons is the same internally. The head is the same other than the cams.

Cast iron blok, cranck, rods.

Not the same is:

Oil squirters, pistons (compression ratio), exterior bolt on stuff.

Ill go checking part numbers in ASA anyway on the exterior bolt on stuff anyway.


Then there would be the next question.
If I rebuild anyway, do I need to change the pistons anyway?
And are the oil squirters needed or not? Some say the can cause some low oil presure problems. Some machine them in a N/A blok.
 
Yes you would need to swap the pistons, the n/t pistons run at a much higher compression(9:1) than the turbo(7.8:1) and are not meant to handle boost.

Granted some aftermarket pistons run at the same if not higher compression, but they are designed for boost and it requires some VERY fine tuning. They also don't take kindly to cheap fuel.

As for the oil squirters, I am in the process of finishing up my turbo swap and will not be using them, according to the info I have gathered they aren't necesary. Some just prefer to use them for ease of mind.

EDM blocks has oils squirters!!
 
Why? the old pistons are broken or melted?
If pistons are OK she just need a new set of piston rings.

The stock non turbo pistons are higher compression and have higher ring lands. This is why you would swap the pistons. A set of stock Nippon pistons can be bought for 100 with rings.

i wish the NA was an 11:1 compression! it's actually rated at 9:1, but with other factors it comes out to about 8.6:1 to 8.8:1. running low boost is fine but not what most people would.

N/A 4G63s never has 11:1 CR. EDM pistons has 10.4:1 CR
USDM NA 9.0:1 1G turbo 9.8:1 2G turbos are 8.5:1 Evo7-8-9 are 8.8:1

no problem dude. when i first got my car i was thinking of making a high compression high rev engine, but since i would still need a good bit of turbo parts i'm just going with a ~8-10psi. maybe if i find another good NA i would try for it, it'd be for fun though.

Going back to your 11:1 CR : Maybe get creative and invent some direct injection system (and play with variable valve timing) where you can get some serious HP out of a 11:1 NT 4G63 motor using 87 RON fuels.

This is how these new motors are going now .. where a 2.0L direct injection NT is mushing over 200HP without trying and close to 300HP using 93 RON fuels.

i remember reading someone on here that got the mivec system to work on our engines. if it was possible to import a evo3 4g63 that has the mivec on the intake, that would be a good start. was even thinking of a way to get my friend's vtec head to work, but the bore sizing is too small and the overall dimensions are as well
