How strong are the internals of a 6 bolt n/a?

Hey guys. I had my trans rebuilt by Shep and yesterday I was about to put it back in. I decided to just check the end play on the crank of my 7 bolt. I will admit that I was afraid to do this b/c of what I could find out. Or should I say, what I DID find out. I'm getting considerable movement, like 3mm or so. I am definately not putting my trans back in and I probably am going to go home and start pulling the motor today.

Now here it is... I am pretty short on money since this trans rebuild. I've found a bunch of 1g 6 bolt n/a engines online for about $500. I know that it has a higher cr than my original engine and I know that it doesn't have the oil squirters. But will it be sufficient for my car? I have an EVO III 16g and ALL supporting mods. I was running 20psi perfectly fine before. If I use one of these engines I indend to get a 1g intake mani and tb and use my 2g intake cam. I also intend to do thing like gaskets here and there and ARP head studs. Are the internals of this n/a engine that I'm thinking about strong enough for the stresses of the forced induction? Will heat become an issue w/o the oil squirters?

Any help is greatly appreciated and time is of the essence b/c I start school in about 2 weeks and I need the car running again by then.

Thanks,
Kent

Options

1. running ok for now keep the boost low.. Non turbo 6blt engine.. Rod, crank etc the same as turbo.. compression wrong, no squirters.

2. run ok for now moderate boost (high for a evoIII turbo) turbo 6 bolt.. Look MORE and get one IMHO... Alot of GST-GSX 1st gens around. Here..$400.... in cali- tuners classified...

3. get a rebuilt shortblock with wisecos+eagles and drop your 2g head/intake etc on it... Drive it and get a worked over head and intake... I'm sure RRE in cali could send a shorty your way..

Thats my recomendations.

i had a friend that put a n/a shortblock in his 1g awd with a 20g on 19 psi and never had a problem for a year then put in a turbo motor. still has the n/a motor had it checked and there is nothin wrong with it so i would say its ok mabe keep the boost at like 16psi - 19psi
